I've been buying all the way up, so I suppose I should buy on the down too

Janet Yellen's comments yesterday were interesting. The likely impact of a rise in US interest rates is being closely monitored it would appear.
  • I guess investors are nervous today because of the election - they are uncertain about who and thus what will be next.

So much to people who believe that stockmarkets react to/anticipate events 12-24 months out.

I've been doing the reverse, I sold on the way up, and have started buying on the way down.

I don't think the UK election has got much to do with it because foreign stock markets have been similarly volatile - if you look on the front page of the FT and hover your mouse of the the indexes you can see .. http://www.ft.com/home/uk

The election result has made little difference to my portfolio - share price rises cancelled out by the rising pound.
But its a Great result for Scotland. Cameron will borrow even more money to bribe the Scots with because his boss doesn't want to lose Balmoral or Faslane

  • They do have some correlation but you can see the effect of election is clear as the index surges today

That depends on your point of view. It is actually an outrage that Scotland's SNP has something like 56 seats with only 5% of the vote whereas UKIP with over double the amount of votes barely has any say in parliament. The system needs to change. (... and the sooner Scotland is towed into the North Sea and sunk by gunfire, the better!)
