if you are on broadband, when in inernet explorer go to "Tools" , "internet Options" and then hit the "Advanced" tab at the tpo.Scroll down the list until you see "Security" and put a cross against "EmptyTemporary Internet Files Folder When Browser is closed"
This will automatically clear your Temporary Internet files when you log off !!Ex forum ambassador

This is true but be aware this will slow down your shut-down or restart time considerably.
It might be better to manage your files manually, that way also the recent web pages you visit will be cached quicker.0 -

I use this on my PC with no change in start up/shut down speeds + no lurking viruses/worms since I did it as a bonusEx forum ambassador

I've also heard that SP2 is available on disk from pc-world for free.Relic wrote:This is true but be aware this will slow down your shut-down or restart time considerably.
It will take longer to shut down/restart but not by much. If you alter the size of the temp internet file cache to 1mb and use the empty cache option shut down speeds shouldnt alter that much.0 -
Thanks have now downloaded the Kak remover, It hasn't found anything yet KAK hta still starts up when I log on. Have run Norton plus several spyware progs nothing shows. BTW I dont't use IE. I use Mozilla, and I never open any attachments from people I don't know.
Secondly, can anyone advise roughly how long to DL SP2 on Broadband. I haven't been able to locate a free cd, and is it as good as using the cd. I'm wary of dloading it as my pc runs ok, a bit slow at times by today's standards, and I'll need to upgrade one day, but I've heard bad reports about SP20 -
Having run everything I've got, now dloaded the above Xp registry fix. Its found 600 faults but keeps packing in before it gets to the end so I can't fix them, yet Norton ( up to date) doesn't find these probs. Anyone help.

Just proves how rubbish Norton is. I think it puts people into a false sense of security.
Depends what connection you are on and how busy the M$ update site is. Doing it now is he best time cas USA is still sleeping.
SP2 takes about 30mins on a 1mb connection. I think....but once SP2 is installed keep going back to the update site until no further critical updates are found.0
