I rarely use home delivery as I find it easier to go to the stores themselves but I decided to use asda just a couple of weeks ago for a click and collect shop, so basically the same thing. What a nightmare! Shop had no onions ??!!! or garlic either. Just like an above poster said, ridiculous they would run out of things like this. Coincidentally I was sent a link to review and video-review the order a few days later, bet they were sorry they did that!

I would rather go to 3 different shops in my own time to get what I need than use them, useless!

My c&c had no milk, no substitutes either, really that is down to a lazy picker as there is no other possible explanation :)

Well - I had potatoes and toilet roll missing in one order (among other items) so go figure ...

Still - hate shopping, do not drive so would have to take a cab back, too much time wasted, prefer to order online and use the time saved to walk the dog...hmmm

May try Tesco for a change -but when I looked, a lot of things Asda sells are not on Tesco website.. Perhaps it does not matter as despite being on Asda website they are not being delivered anyway? hahah

When do you tend to have your shopping delivered?

I have the £5.00 monthly delivery pass so any time I want it really. Tried to vary days/times to see if this is due to their own stock deliveries but does not seem to make any difference at all

Having spoken to drivers at length about this issue, they say that the most subs/unavailable happen at weekends due to the volume of deliveries and no/few stock deliveries to store.

I've never *touch wood* had a sub or unavailable item, having items delivered quite late on week nights.

I work as a picker for Tesco. If we sub something for a more expensive item it's price matched so you don't pay more, if you don't want the item you can tell the driver and they will tell you what to do (they take it back for you and you call for a refund i think) RE the weekends thing dearlouise mentioned, sundays are the worst. saturdays are ok but we are low on sunday and we start before the deliveries arrive usually!

If you hand something back to the driver, they do the return on the machine that you sign for your shopping then you get the credit in your bank a couple of days later, you can't beat that.

My DIL changed from ASDA to Tesco for home delivery as there was always basic items 'unavailable'. As stated above there plenty in the shop.

I use Sainsbury's online and rarely have items missing...apart from one thing. Malteasers single chocolate bar...it never shows as out of stock (at 11pm on the Thursday night) but by Friday team time when deleievred it has failed to be available for the past 9 weeks. After 8 weeks I mailed Sainsbury's about it and got the stock answer about how items may go out of stock if popular; I countered with it being unbelievable that this could happen 8 times in a row for the same item, always to run out of stock at the last minute. They now say they are liaising with the particular store. It's really been a running joke but I love those bars and it was just getting silly how everything but that would be delivered
