Unavailable items at home shopping food deliveries

I normally shop online at Asda but it is getting worse and worse with more items "unavailable" listed on the delivery note each time.

Because of bad experience with substitutes before (pretzels instead of juice etc etc nonsense or much more expensive items in place of unavailable cheap ones) , I always tick "no substitutes".

Last time I ordered £115.00 worth of groceries but only £75.00 was delivered with the rest listed as "unavailable".

Total nonsense and very frustrating.

Does it happen with Tesco too? Anyone shops online with Tesco?

Maybe time to say by bye to Asda due to this issue.

I absolutely hate going shopping so order pretty much everything online... hmmm

I've always found Tesco better, Asda is terrible for home deliveries in my area. Sainsburys is okay, a bit hit and miss but better than Asda.

Waitrose and Ocado are really good-virtually never had missing items or subs from them, but they are a bit more expensive.

Yes I have noticed lots of items unavailable, but yet they are in the store when I visit. Won't be doing many online shops now they have put the minimum spend up to £40

I do Tesco and very rarely have unavailable items, it would be frustrating if you get a lot, I sympathise with you.
It is only £25 min shop with Tesco, give them a go.

I used to use ASDA, but got fed up with poor substitutes, or having to speak to their useless customer service team. Getting a refund for missing items felt like getting blood out a stone!

Sainsburys were oK, but they charge you extra for substitutes e.g. I bought a bottle of wine on offer for say £5.99, which they then substituted with a £12 bottle, where I had to either pay the extra or go without.

Tesco I find very good, with generally sensible substitutes, and at least if you do have a problem, their customer service is easy to deal with.

Ocado were also great, but I found their fruit and veg bruised and grotty.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I don't know what's going on with Asda. I don't do online shopping but I've found that they've stopped selling quite a few of the items I buy every week so I've gone back to Tesco.

I've noticed this with my own supermarket too. I wonder if they are concentrating on the higher profit items . My own supermarket for example stopped selling rye bread which isn't probably the most popular thing they sell .

Thanks everyone. I shop with Asda for manyyyyyy years and I am so used to their products etc but what is going on recently really puts me off.

Not only I have to call my bank every single time as for years they do the same - the "book" the amount of money I order shopping for on the day of shopping is delivered and then few days later they take the amount the actual deliver was for (say I ordered for 115 and they delivered 75 like last time) but the original amount is left "pending" on my account and I have to call the bank to release it back to me. Happens every time. And now all those unavailable items....

Comparing Asda to Tesco - Asda is always cheaper on the items I buy and much cheaper to be honest. So that is the reason I always shop with them but....

Got to think about this one now...

    Thanks for all the replies

Don't know about Asda but Ocado virtually never have any missing items- but as already noted, more expensive.

I literally can't remember when they didn't send the full order. Superb customer service too.

Stopped using Tesco when then delivery man refused to help lift the bags from the box onto my doorstep when I was 9 months pregnant. Literally a lift of 10 inches but just stood and watched me struggle. I asked him to help and he told me he was 'not allowed to enter my property.' He wasn't, he would have been just leaning in and placing item on step. Never again.

ASDA seem to be pretty bad for it. Sometimes the things they have unavailable make you think "how?" - last time they had run out of potatoes and fresh chicken breasts. How is it possible that a supermarket can run out of such staple, popular items?

We'll see what happens tomorrow when I get some delivered from them.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

I used Morrisons home delivery for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised to find no items missing/unavailable, they fulfilled the whole order. I say surprised because my local Morrisons is hopeless, they rarely have what I want. Someone from the home delivery dept called me a couple of days later to see if I was happy with everything. He said their online system is set up to check stock availability when offering delivery slots. Not sure how they accomplish this but seems like a good idea.
