When we bought this place, one of the RM/brochure pics was of a wooden summerhouse in the garden. It went with the vendor...0

We took our summer house with us but told all the viewers that we were doing so. Howere there was a slabbed patio underneath it so the garden still looked good.
We moved into a house woth a large Fyfstone fireplace which my husband hated. He put his hand on it and wondered out loud' I wonder what it woud take to remove this?
He pulled on it and the whole thing collapsed onto the floor in bits.
It had been built up against the wall but was not fixed to the wall in any way.0 -
Am I the only one who's curious to see this fabled fireplace? Any chance of a pic OP?0

Me too. And how do you get 'sentimentally attached' to a fireplace? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
-
^^ I'm not sure about sentimentally attached, but in my case I just find it to be a really cool fireplace. It's tall, almost ceiling height, in a pleasant light pine, with columns with palm tree mouldings and an antique mirror above the mantel piece. It's imposing without being overpowering, and actually makes the room feel bigger and lighter than without it. I like nice things and I'm very fussy, so when I find something like this, I like to hang onto it, is all.
But like I said, if it does come with me it'll be removed prior to viewings!0 -
Well the fireplace in question sounds nothing like yours! I would be happy without it in the room. Not sure how to get a pic up!0

That's a tiny picture! But doing a google image search for it comes back with a bungalow in G66 - is it that one? If so, then I have to admit that I wouldn't regard that fireplace as a great loss, and I'd definitely be happy to negotiate around it. But that's personal taste.0

are you sure its even a real fireplace .There isnt a chimney on the house"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

Thanks Ellie!
Is that seriously what they're getting their knickers in a twist about? I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a perfectly nice fireplace if that's your style, but it would hardly be difficult for them to find another one like it if you pushed to keep it. Have you decided what you will do?
It looks like a lovely room, though, especially that corner window. Best of luck Ellie!0
