Hi Macman - there are 2 MPANs. All I know about the tariff is that it is called Standard Superdeal - we bought the house a year ago, and I was fairly sure it was an Economy 7 type of tariff. No where is there anything to tell me otherwise.
Try and track both meters when they become active. digital meters will sfash the red light( rather than solid on ) and the reading should be highlighted as active by a blinking cursor or reading. If its eco 7, the cheap 7 hours, now in BST, is approx 1.30 am to 8.30 am. Old analogue meters will be obvious with the barrel spinning. Their timerswitches are not always at the correct time and the cheap 7 hours could be anywhere in the 24 hours

Bit about it here on an old thread: it looks to be a variant of E10. E7 with a daytime boost. Do you have NSH's?

Superdeal meters are ideal if your home only has electric heating and if you’re at home most of the day. Like the Flexiheat and Evening and Weekend meters, Superdeal is only available in some areas.
They record electricity on three readings; one for ‘day’, one for ‘night’ and one for ‘stored heat’. The night reading runs from midnight till 7am, all year round.
The ‘day’ and the ‘night’ readings record everything apart from your heating and hot water. Your heating is recorded on the ‘stored heat’ reading. You get seven hours at this rate; two hours are stored and used in the afternoon, so you’ll keep warm throughout the day.

Thanks all. Yes Macman, we have night storage heaters. And yes, there is a Day, Night, and Storage Heater tariff. I looked at that thread you linked, and it sounds like it is going to be a matter of switching the type of meter to have any hope of moving supplier. When I do the comparison web pages, they suggest that I would save about £400/yr with Flow, or GB Energy etc So I would like to!

Don't forget to take into account that your off-peak heating period will be shorter (by 3 hours), and you will have to have some wiring done on your side of the meter. Even with the possible costs of a meter exchange I don't think the payback will be too long.

    Good luck!

Istar, I can't see when the tariffs apply - I looked all around the website, but I can only see price. How can one be sure it is E10?

Because that's the only system using dual metering and requiring 2 MPAN's. E7 requires neither.

From my link above it seems you only get 7 hours of heat, 5 at night and 2 in the afternoon. That afternoon boost could come in handy but at a cost. What are the unit rates ?

    They are:
18.49 day, 9.79 night and 8.21storage (16-27pence/day charge, depending on tariff)

Yes, maybe that boost is a bit of a killer - but then, thinking about it wouldn't it be the storage rate, regardless of time?

You need to do the maths with your percentage split between the three registers, then do the same calculation on any comp site with an E7 split. across two registers. Forget unit costs, what matters is the annual total.
