Drinking Holiday Insurance

A friend was killed whilst as a pedestrian he crossed a road in France. Blood tests at post mortem showed blood alcohol levels above legal driving limits. The insurers refused payout and the family had to pay around £10000 to repatriate the body.Something Really Interesting0

Incredibly foolish even for someone who is tee total to travel abroad with no travel insurance.
And me saying the word 'foolish' is being polite.......make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Ahh, !!!!!! Brits abroad, don't you just love them. Thankfully I avoid the places they travel to.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

This must be a joke post surely?
If not then I think you ar very foolish travelling anywhere without insurance and I don't think you will find anyone to cover you for when your are drunk.
Why don't you try not to get so drunk that you are likely to have an accident? Just a thought...0 -

Even at the best of times they're a pain in the backside and they do like a big lass.
How you you know the OP is female, let alone a big lass? It sounds more like a man to me.
And why does any post about Turkey have to result in someone putting down Turkish men?0 -
Hello,
I am going on holiday to Turkey next week. I don't normally bother with travel insurance as have only travelled to western Europe previously.
Have you never read those stories about people who have accidents and because they didn't have travel insurance they have to rely on friends and family to help repatriate them?

I'd rethink your stance on holiday insurance if I were you.I am expecting to consume a lot of alcohol over the ten days so thought I should best get insured in case the worst happens.
I found a good quote online and rang the company to make enquiries. She told me that unfortunately I wouldn't be covered if I was injured whilst intoxicated and that is is an industry standard practise.
Can anyone recommend a company who provides insurance for medical emergencies whilst intoxicated?
Many thanks

I don't think you have a cat-in-hell's chance of getting a company to insure you and pay out if you have 'consumed a lot of alcohol'.0 -

Hopefully your use of foolish is acceptable, my post using a slightly stronger (but I think we all feel more appropriate) word has been deleted.0 -
You can get insured for anything -if you are prepared to pay the correct premium but in the scenario you describe the odds are the premium will be more than your holiday cost. You'd need to speak to specialist broker for a bespoke quote based on all sorts of info including age, sex, any alcohol related convictions, weight, drinking habits, past health record etc.
I sort of see the logic that in an EC country you can clutter up their A&E for free just like you see in our A&E departments on any weekend with the people who have come to grief binge drinking but don't want to pay for the consequences of doing so anywhere it comes out of your own pocket - but simply it's unlikely you can afford to do so.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Why anyone still asks questions about insurance on here I have no idea. The slightest hint you may consider doing anything anywhere that may not be fully covered you're showered with abuse (I mean "friendly advice"...).0

Then you're covered, with the power to give away insurance cover on an ad hoc basis every time you drink booze.
I'll go for this option. For the sake of a tenner, may as well be covered for anything that may happen when not drunk0
