OP - this is a reply to what you posted in post #13:
you mention your notes:
are these to help/remind you to do your job?
If they are, they don't need to make sense to anyone else but you.
Have you said 'morning' 'bye' to people and they ignore you?
Or are you expecting them to speak first?
Was the meeting you mention something that you should have been involved in?
The positive point is that you are being allowed to do some familiarisation work at home which should hopefully help you.0 -
The OP thinks that the press is going to be interested in that story? Well maybe the Metro.0
-
It looks like the op is in need of a job which offers more support.
I'd also advise to talk to his or her doctor to see what other options can be offered ie talking therapies.if the op was mislead over the nature of the job, they should not blame themselves if it doesn't suit them.some jobs just don't suit.
Something more suitable will come along , I'm sure.0 -
So your idea of sympathy is to make fun of someone?
And that's your sense of humour?
I don't need to lighten up, you need to tailor your replies to the tone of the posts asking for advice/help.
And so it seems you're fishing for more 'thanks'.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

Not at all.
Why on earth would I need to do that? :rotfl:
Just trying not to kick the OP when he/she is down by making fun of the way he/she writes.0 -

The first step would be to ask what "short hand" means and how you can improve this.
Also, the business will have targets and you have to be up to a certain level to succeed. If you are struggling to keep up then it is possibly your problem (unless they are being unreasonable! - this is unlikely though because others seem to be able to cope). You need to work on your own skills to fix the problem. Finally, it would be better for them to show you how to do it but I can see why they might be getting impatient.
Little tip, though, but you can't come into a company and change the way they do things. You either do it "long hand" or you risk getting sacked. That is a key rule of the workplace.Customer Service ah I am really sorry to say I had conjured up images of talking to people by telephone, answering the phone, resolving complaints, composing emails, nope this job is none of that.
"Customer" is an umbrella term which represents a large group of people, not necessarily the ones who go into ASDA to buy a loaf of bread (or whom ring you up to moan about a missing order). So you should expect to "serve customers" in some capacity, and from the sounds of it you are doing just that even if it isn't what you pictured.
If you want to do the above then go join a call centre. I'd rather be doing what you are dong, but hey ho each to their own!I even had a typing test which makes no sense as the employer would have been better checking someone knew shortcuts of a keyboard! but can only learn from it I'd like to think if I ever cop this in an interview again I'll be asking why are you testing this and that as I never use to be honest - you know when you beat yourself thinking if only I had asked why!
Computer use and targets. That explains the typing test. In respect to the keyboard shortcuts, a computer system is generally WYSIWYG and controlled by the mouse for navigation and keyboard for data input. Being able to press "ctrl and n" to create a new customer file would be negligibly quicker than moving the mouse to the "new" button and then sending the electrical signal from your brain to your finger in order to press the left mouse button.
Why would they hire someone who is slower than average on data inputting? They'd take the person who can benefit them the most!I find myself largely tied to a computer data inputting, with what feels like a technical side of the job (which I was told by other interviewers to keep away from!! so I was only to aware of weaknesses and avoided such positions)
Sod anyone else. Those interviewers were effectively telling you to stay away from money, or to stay on the dole. Every job in the history of jobs has a weakness. They all share on thing in common, though, and that is MONEY.I've no idea how this is going to pan out, how can you say to someone I'm leaving my job because I hate it! I've stuck it out simply because I feel a sense of duty?
Duty my bum! They only duty you have is to earn some coin for yourself. Two options:
1. Keep working and either hope to be let go, whilst looking for a new job
2. Walk out and either find a new job or volunteer your time for a job you want. You won't get an income for a while though. One last thing if I have to get glasses - do anyone know if you can use a really old pairand just get new lenses put in the frame as it were? if needed - The boss seems to calm down in the afternoons when mornings is my best, ah we are a right pair
Umm, speak to specsavers about that one? I can't make out what this means.0 -
It would good to hear from you OP, to see how you're getting on.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

Maybe she thinks she didn't get the support and sympathy she expected on this one.0 -
Thanks for caring, I wasn't expecting anyone to take my side either,
it has taken until today to want to view this thread, I went into work on Friday and got pulled into something which I can't fully understand but all because I dared speak on Thursday (should have known there was a reason why people didn't talk!) my words were twisted, it's also seemed in someway the employer had me mixed up with another applicant who had worked in shipping when it came to it and although relived I'm left doing a letter before action in respect of wages due and the job re-advertised as an Apprentice.
My consolation was the headaches did stop after I, finally, stood up for myself in the manager's office Friday, didn't know I was capable but I was!
I saw the day out and haven't gone sick as a way to deal with it so hope that will stand in my favour.0 -
It sounds like you've been treated pretty poorly.
Shocking that they got you mixed up with someone else, I guess they meant to offer the job to them instead of you because of experience.
I hope you get the wages due to you without too much hassle and delay.0
