She stopped being an Events coordinator in 2012.
Yes, it was a recent post (April 2015) but was in response to someone asking about becoming an events coordinator.
The OP was simply explaining her previous job.0 -
Yes thanks, I started this new role on the belief that I would be a Customer Service Rep not a Shipping Freight Administrator, having never worked in any associated industry connected in shipping, people would be best looking at other threads of mine posted way before the Events Co-ordinator one.. things got a little less fun yesterday when the 'test' was carried out early, I have only been in the role 3 days, I've no idea what to do for the best apart from keep with it, but how long do you do that if no improvement in a month?
Trying to keep it in prospective and these are some things I've started asking myself
They keep saying my notes don't make sense? they talk so fast! I am at a point of do I tell them it is because I've had depression which I've coped with alone? (I've never wanted meds)
Nobody talks it is stoney silence, they don't say morning or goodbye even - this isn't helping me to really communicate so feel I'm at a loss and this isn't helping the situation
If I speak out - I worry that's it - out the door
The boss got quite angry yesterday and sneering today, thought I was a goner at one point with these chats he needs to have with rest of team - yesterday ended that I should be allowed access to system at home to learn it in my own time (I'm ok with this)
I keep trying to tell myself I'll be out in 36 weeks - I'm covering maternity leave with 1 weeks training - perhaps they want me to do a poor to basic job?
It's not the sort of place you drink tea & coffee though I feel my red bull is frowned upon, perhaps I should take in frozen bottles of water?
I had an little accident yesterday morning, but the man let me go, trying to stay sane, it's as another poster put it that worklife seems the most worrysome, obsesive perhaps that's it?
There is no contract, it has all been rather slapdash and afraid I'm also to blame as I feel I've made excuses for their behaviour0 -
So OP - welcome back and well done for speaking up re depression (but on the other side meds can help and may help you see that the world isn't against you)
As for the job what is the physical difference between a Shipping Freight Administrator and Customer Service Advisor in the company you've gone to ? If I read correctly you're expecting something face to face/relationship building and instead are office/admin based with your 'customers' being predominantly B2B.
Without lecturing the time to check this would have been at interview/offer stage with a copy of a job description or via some research on what the company does.
At the end of the day titles are not comparable (in many cases I've seen people make up their own titles to massage the ego) but it's the content of the role that is important0 -
If your notes are in the same style as you write here then they probably have a point. You need to slow it down a bit - write what you need to then take a step back and read it through again. I get brain fog due to health problems, but getting into the habit of reviewing means no one else would know - and keeps me calm too.
I agree with other comments about the job title, administration and customer service are largely intertwined nowadays.0 -
No they say the notes are in not enough detail!! They dislike my 'short hand', work that one out cos I still am, even though I can't keep up when shown things if I were to longhand it, then they get impatient and will start doing stuff which lands me even more confused
Customer Service ah I am really sorry to say I had conjured up images of talking to people by telephone, answering the phone, resolving complaints, composing emails, nope this job is none of that.
I even had a typing test which makes no sense as the employer would have been better checking someone knew shortcuts of a keyboard! but can only learn from it I'd like to think if I ever cop this in an interview again I'll be asking why are you testing this and that as I never use to be honest - you know when you beat yourself thinking if only I had asked why!
I find myself largely tied to a computer data inputting, with what feels like a technical side of the job (which I was told by other interviewers to keep away from!! so I was only to aware of weaknesses and avoided such positions) and if they had mentioned order processing was actually purchase orders and processing manufacturing certificates, hell I would have said thanks but no, knowing the effect it now has on the CV and coming from an Accounts temping background of the past couple of months which is why I really could not have been clearer about why I felt not suited to even that, surely someone saying they don't like numbers would have you running but I suppose when your desperate either side can get confused and start looking for likeliness, I've no idea how this is going to pan out, how can you say to someone I'm leaving my job because I hate it! I've stuck it out simply because I feel a sense of duty?
One last thing if I have to get glasses - do anyone know if you can use a really old pairand just get new lenses put in the frame as it were? if needed - The boss seems to calm down in the afternoons when mornings is my best, ah we are a right pair

If the frames are in good condition, it is usually possible to fit new lenses. That can be cheaper than buying new frames and lenses. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

Your thought processes seem to be all over the place.0 -

Specsavers are doing frames and lenses for £25 at the moment - probably as cheap as getting lenses put into old frames.

The OP obviously wrote this post when stressed/angry.
It is after all, the Praise, Vent & Warnings board.
Here is another very recent post from the OP:
I can't see much wrong with that, can you?
It seems he/she is facing the very real possibility of losing a job.
Do you think it fair to poke fun?
Teacher school humour of sense not... Up lighten needs to...;)
Of course I sympathise, been there got the T shirt but in a communication industry in which the OP wanted to get a job it's a good idea to hone one's communication skills, don't you think?“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

So your idea of sympathy is to make fun of someone?
And that's your sense of humour?
I don't need to lighten up, you need to tailor your replies to the tone of the posts asking for advice/help.0
