Sorry Upsidedown Bear, they don't deliver in my area. What's the difference between them and supermarket online shopping ? Do they supply only locally sourced food?

I posted the link as I thought it might be useful - I don't use them myself so I don't know the answers, sorry :)

I used to have it delivered, but it arrived in same plastic containers as per supermarket, I was at work, so left out in the sun all day

Gave up, could not see the point TBH

I used to have it delivered but they must have been struggling for staff as the same person was covering a huge area. He often delivered the milk around midnight - it would wake me up as the bedroom is at the front and we have gravel - and it would be cottage cheese by the time we got up in the summer. I liked the idea of a milkman but in practice it wasn't good for us - and it was pricey

I order online up to 9 pm the night before. They deliver Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. I've never met the milkman; I reckon he delivers at about about 4.30am. The milk etc. is left locked in the meter cupboard, in a cool bag (when I remember to leave it out with the empties). I pay online.

It is more expensive than the supermarket, but so much better time-wise. If you buy things when they are on offer, they are similar prices to the shops and odd things can be cheaper, like big boxes of crisps. They sell broken biscuits too...
  • I have milk delivered-not every day-3 times a week. It is more expensive than supermarket milk but tastes far nicer to me, and I like the glass bottles being reused :)

Definitely cuts down on the recycling....

We have 14 pints of milk a week, delivered on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. We pay 55p per pint.....

Wow 55p - I pay 81p/pint but then we only have 4-6 pints each week. I'm guessing you don't use milk&more.

I do & while they are expensive, my milkman got through in the snow when everyone else couldn't (& we only had about 2 inches but we live in the South when the world stops spinning as soon as a few flakes settle :rotfl:). I get whatever butter & cheese is on offer usually cheaper than the supermarket, & can get bulky items like toilet roll, potatoes & even compost delivered which is great for me as a non-driver. Also handy for those surprise food tech lessons that the kids have suddenly remembered they need ingredients for at the last minute :D

He does deliver stupidly early, so if I've forgotten to leave the cool box & ice pack out then I find the milk does go off more quickly when its really hot - but then its only a pint & not 4.

I pay by direct debit & its worth it for the convenience. I'm sure I save money by not physically going to the shops as often too.
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

I know someone who has there milk delivered 2-3 times a week.

Yes more expensive than supermarket milk. But he is disabled and it saves him carrying it back from town on the bus.

His is plastic cartons and not glass milk bottles.

    Yours

I used to have it delivered until my local milkman's business got taken over by a larger firm. After that we found that the milk didn't seem to keep as long and they became much less reliable . The final straw was when they stopped calling round for the money every fortnight and started billing us monthly.
