I used to have it delivered when the kids were young. It was less hassle than getting myself and 2 littlies dressed for a walk to the shops and cheaper when I'd factored in I didn't pick up this and that at the same time.

Then the milkman retired, the quality went downhill, I had the same problem as another poster in the summer, the milk could be off by the time I fetched it in and they could no longer do deliveries on the days I'd asked. I'd initially asked for more on a Friday to last over the weekend, but that was changed to a Wednesday delivery.

When my husband had an op on his tongue and for a while didn't like the taste of milk, combined with kids not eating as much cereal as previously I used this as a reason to stop.

Nowadays I buy Cravendale or supermarket equivalent as much as I can. Yes, it's more expensive, but I never throw any away because it's gone off.

I used to have it delivered, but it arrived in same plastic containers as per supermarket, I was at work, so left out in the sun all day

Gave up, could not see the point TBH

Similar problem to why we stopped, he used to drop it off about 5ambut it got to the point where it was getting dropped off later as I was out at work and my mum had already gone to work and it would be sat outside in the warm (especially the summer).

I signed up, got one milk delivery which cost £1.49 for 4 pints but it was in a plastic bottle like the supermarkets and tasted the same so I figured why bother?

It was advertised as local milk but run by a big chain and so I figured that the farmer probably wasn't getting paid much more than what the supermarkets pay him. I would think the corporation probably absorb most of the profits (much like milk&more etc do).

If I could have a local milkman deliver it in glass bottles and know that the farmer was treated fairly I would definitely sign up again :)

I have a milkman who delivers 3 times a week. It isn't cheaper but I was so sick of my bottle recycling bin getting full up with plastic milk bottles! (we eat a lot of cereal) I usually find I have to top up with the odd 4 pinter from the local spar but it does help having it delivered. Ours delivers at about 2am which confuses the dog somewhat if he hears him :)

We get 4 x 2L organic whole pasteurised but unhomogenised milk jugs from Abel & Cole once a week which costs 7.96. Delivery is 1.25 but we are having other things too - eggs, some fruit and veg. If we run out we go to Sainsbury's or ASDA.

I used to get mine delivered,. as it was convenient. My milkman delivered Tue, Thurs and Say which worked well for me. Since moving house I no longer get it delivered as the milkman gets to my street later, so it would be sitting out all day. (plus the village shop is at the end of my road so it's easy to pop out if I need some!)

My parents get their's delivered. Their milkman comes every day except Sundays, and also delivers their newspapers, and can deliver fruit juice, and various vegetables.

My milk used to come in proper glass bottles but my mum and dad's is in plastic.
