Having milk delivered

Nope! I buy x3. 4 pinters @ Tesco every week for £3.
I should think the milkman and his cart will cost more for the trouble of having the milk brought to your door.
Then you have to hope it will not get pinched from the doorstep. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
I have milk delivered-not every day-3 times a week. It is more expensive than supermarket milk but tastes far nicer to me, and I like the glass bottles being reusedDebts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

Thanks for your replies.
Toomuchdebt , how much does it cost? Do you get one pint, two pints per day? And how do you pay?0 -
I get 9 pints a week(3 on Momdays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and pay £25.56 every 4 weeks. I get the full fat milk as I can't stand skimmed or semi skimmed.I pay onlineDebts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

I used to have milk delivered up until last year when my milkman gave up his round. I miss it. yes it was more expensive than SM milk - but, I had a brilliant milkman who managed to deliver even when no traffic was able to get through snow and ice! no idea how he managed it, but was I grateful! I was able to give my elderly neighbour milk for her tea when she couldn't get out to shop. and most shops had run out anyway.
I don't actually drink milk myself - but OH and grandkids get through litres of it! and I have to remember to buy it now!
its swings and roundabouts - you DO pay more for doorstep delivery - but, a good milkman is worth his weight in gold. because I could order juice, eggs, yoghurt and many other things (potatoes for some reason) and they would be with the next delivery. they may have been a bit more expensive but my milkman used to supply 'local produce'.0 -
Thanks for that. It means 71p per pint. I think I'll stick to my local Coop for now.0

Meritaten, I didn't know milkman can deliver potatoes ?0

We still have our milk delivered, 3 times a week. They can deliver lots of other things too. It does cost more, but I'm happier with glass bottles, and it keeps me out of the supermarket, as I've yet to discover how to go into one and only come out with the one thing I meant to buy...Angie - GC Mar 25: £0/£500: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 21/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

lol - my milkman left a leaflet of 'items he can supply' - he apparently had 'connections' to a local farm shop. I have to say that if I phoned in an order the day before my 'milk day' I could order a range of food. already mentioned some - but, most veg, butter and cheese and I could order turkey or chicken with a few days notice. like I said - he had 'connections'. I would say the price was comparable to local butcher, greengrocer etc. but the produce was all local. he was a small independent milkman and much loved by his customers - he started about twenty years ago as 'milkboy' and eventually bought the round.0

We have 14 pints of milk a week, delivered on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. We pay 55p per pint.
I could easily pick up a four pinter every couple of days from the supermarket for much less but I like having it delivered. In 6 years our milkman has never let us down come hail, wind rain, whatever.
He does deliver other stuff..cream, eggs, bread etc which is very useful for those who can't get out so easily.
PLUS we like to support him as a local businessman and we feel that someone has to keep the milkman delivering for all the people who CAN'T make it to the supermarket regularly; the old, the infirm etc.0
