Coffee Machines

Oh dear. Pod machines make reasonable ..ish coffee (well it is better than instant). But the pods are expensive and in no way can they match the quality of good espresso.
For that you need freshly roasted beans that are properly ground and put through a decent machine. Just learn how to use for example ..a Gaggia classic ..properly and save yourself some money and enjoy a superior product.
If you want a cheaper but still quality brew try an aeropress.
If you can afford it get a genuine hx machine eg a rocket brand which will produce a superior product.0 -
Except you aren't. Once our free vouchers run out we will probably not buy another Nespresso pod.
Ok, you're limited by the range of coffees sold in pod form. Which is still dwarfed by the choice of coffees you can get in bean form.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
I have a Nespresso machine; I like it a lot.
You get a good variety of coffees for it, so you won't get bored.
I previously had a Dolce Gusto, and I got bored with the limited range.
I have a cafetiere, but I don't use it so often.
My work has a machine which grinds the beans to make a cup, but I'd rather my Nespresso in all honesty.0 -
Would this appliance be 1 of those that gets use 3/4 times and gets put to the back of the cupboard.0

At Christmas I got my wife a De Longhi bean to cup machine, I expected it to be a bit of a faf and a short lived fad. It is brilliant, packet of beans in the top every 2 weeks fill the water jug every day, empty the waste coffee draw twice a week. It produces top class coffee at the touch of a button, espresso, or long. Then you have the steam function to make hot frothy milk. I'm told the coffee is good, I don't drink coffee. It really has exceeded my expectations.0

Another vote for Nespresso. We have two Pixie machines (both made by Krups), one in my OH's office and one at home. You can't beat it for convenience. It produces a coffee that is much more like a coffee you'd get in a decent coffee shop than the coffee from the likes of a Dolce Gusto machine.
OK, the capsules aren't the cheapest (around 30p each) and you can only buy them online and in Nespresso shops but if you order 200 capsules delivery is free. The empties are collected and recycled. We have tried compatible capsules from Lidl and a variety of supermarket brands but they're not a patch on the genuine ones.
House of Fraser and Debenhams both sell Nespresso machines and you can try the coffee there before you buy a machine.
My mother, who was always an instant coffee fan, received a Nespresso Pixie as a Christmas present (from her wonderful daughter) and she loves it. The instant coffee is now hiding at the back of the cupboard!Norn Iron Club Member 3300 -
I have a Nespresso Lattissima with the built in milk steamer. It get used all the time. I know 100% that I wouldn't bother using a ground coffee machine as much, although the coffee may be superior I couldn't be doing with the faff of grinds first thing in the morning or if I just fancied a quick coffee, for me the Nespresso is a fairly decent compromise.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice or pointers
I am thinking of buying a coffee machine but I don’t know what to go for! Does anyone have one that they can recommend, or any advice on choosing one? I would like one that takes pods or discs, and makes ‘long’ drinks (ie not just espressos).
I’ve been looking at a Bosch one on Currys (BOSCH Tassimo Suny TAS3202GB), but with that one would I be limited to one brand of pod/disc?
Would I be better getting a Nespresso one which can take cheaper pods (eg Lidl ones), as I think Nespresso can use a number of different makes so long as they are the same size?
I would rather spend a bit more on the machine and be able to use cheaper pods than buy a cheaper machine and have to use more expensive pods. It will only be two of us using it, and the occasional visitor. I would want to spend up to £150, but would pay a bit more if I had to (up to £200).
Thanks
Get one of these, absolutely brilliant, far far better coffee than our Nespresso machine that my wife and i both agree is rather crap.

I have a Nespresso machine at home and really like the convenience of it, I only make 4 or 5 cups a weekends as my wife doesn't drink coffee so it's just me. I've had it long enough to know which of the many varieties of coffee are my favourite so I just buy 3 or 4 types of pod now.
At work we have a bean to cup machine which is also great but it would have been overkill for just me.0
