Sounds excellent. Do you have any tips on how to source a solid wood kitchen without breaking the bank? I hate the chipboard things.

Thanks franklee :) We've just purchased and taken delivery of cabinets from Handmade Kitchens in Christchrch - you have to paint them yourself (or find a handy person to do it for you ;)) and the drawer fronts are MDF, but the frames are tulip wood. Not bought from them before, but quality is excellent for the price.....

Apologies to Alchemilla for hijacking.....oh, and definitely get that additional kitchen pic added to the other house listing :D

I keep pots and pans in the kitchen and pasta et.c in the pantry.

It really works fine for me...and I guess for the previous family who were here about 28 years.

I can understand why some wouldn't like it.

I think the problem is that most people (as shown in this thread) can't even work out the dynamics of the kitchen from the photos/floorplan in the listing. Your buyers are just going to give up when they can't make sense of it immediately. I don't think this is actually a problem with the kitchen, albeit unusual, I think it's a problem with the listing.

I agree. Labelling the plan 'kitchen/diner' instead of 'dining room' and 'fitted kitchen' would be the easiest fix and make things clearer.

The extra photo which is on the 'no land' listing does make it a bit easier to see that it could work, but it still makes it look as though there is very little storage space in the kitchen.

(also, is it just me, or does anyone else want to take the agent aside and ask them "'fitted kitchen' - really? - Have you jkust emerged from a 1960s timewarp so you think a fitted kitchen is an exotic new idea?" When did you last see one which wasn't?)
All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)
  • It's a lovely house and I'm sure you'll find a buyer once the agents sort the photos and floor plan out. The kitchen sounds fine; it's just completely unclear from the way it's presented currently. Definitely flag it up as an equestrian property and consider a local agent who have plenty of these on their books.

Other than what's already been mentioned, I don't like the 'Picture no. 22' etc as the names of the photos. I like it to be 'Bedroom 2' etc, so I can match it up to what I'm seeing in the floorplan.
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard

You have bay windows, yet you have a curtain pole that goes straight across the bay. The house we just moved into had the same as do others here. WHY?!

It really isn't hard to put a curtain track up that goes into/around the bay. You'll then get a bit of extra space in evenings when curtains are closed and itll look a lot sleeker.
