    It is nice to see the usual plethora of unhelpful and nasty comments being directed at someone who came here of help.

    I think every bank will check your credit file for ID purposes if nothing else, but depending on the bank type they may not require a certain level of internal credit scoring to get your account for you.

    As I recall, the Metro account is very basic in that it does not offer DDs - unless that has changed?

    Very few current accounts pay decent in credit interest. The main exceptions are those which are trying to get potentially profitable customers to switch (such a the TSB account). Basic accounts tend not to be especially profitable for banks - many run the product at a loss. I think decent in credit interest is not something you are going to get.

    It's right you can't earn the interest then because it is not your money in the first place.
