Might want to consider this all in one instead at ebuyer for £125

Forget inkjets, get a budget mono laser printer such as a Samsung, from around £60. It'll be faster and very much cheaper for that kind of output.
Thanks for that macman. My HP inkjet has prematurely given up the ghost on me and I found out through googling that many others have had the same problem with its failure to register the black refill. I only need b/w at home. i can do an occasional colour print at work if needed. My printing requirements at home are low and infrequent.0 -
I would go for a DELL C1765nf or nfw colour laser printer if you can.You can use cheap compatable cartridges and printer can be had for about £110.0

Thanks macman - something like this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1904734.htm ?
WIll it also allow kids to print off coursework with coloured photos ?
Bought the same Samsung model in B/W from John Lewis for £50 with 2 year warranty. The only thing that was missing was the Wi-Fi feature. After years of dried ink on inkjet printer, this is an amazing value for money. On inkjets I never managed 100 pages and the ink would run out or just dry up. The starter toner cartridge on the laser printer keeps on going. It said the yield would be about 500 pages. I should be nearing the 350 pages and still good as day one. This printer is also fairly small and does not take up too much space.
Best buy ever (in terms of printers). The normal original cartridge should supposedly give you about 1000 pages per toner cartridge.SPC 08 - #452 - £415
SPC 09 - #452 - £2980
