Sleep deprivation due to deaf neighbour

  • L DE B what a nice way to be able to sort out what was a difficult problem. So pleased you've been able to tackle it so kindly and gently with the neighbour. I'm sad for her but pleased your problem has a logical explanation and is solveable very easily. Now you are in on the loop for her, your neighbour has an extra pair of kind and considerate eyes keeping an eye out on her and for her. If only all lifes difficulties could have such a benevolent and instant solution eh?

Yes I too am pleased you have been able to solve the problem but maybe she would benefit from some earphones. It does seem sad if she is not able to enjoy her late nights.

When my back got bad and I had to give up nursing I became a warden. Lots of my tenants had headphones. I used to have to call them on the intercom in the evening to make sure they were OK. I remember one evening keep saying "Jean is everything OK" DDs voice came from the kitchen. "She can't hear you she's got her walkman on."

Perhaps you could pop round every so often?

Sometimes I go round to my neighbours with some spare eggs- just say that the chickens are laying well and we can't finish them all.

I usually see her walking to the Post Office but if I don't see her, I pop round with a few eggs. Just a chance to quickly check she is ok and she is always pleased with free eggs!

I'm glad you sorted your problem out.

It's a bit difficult to pop round if she can't hear the door!

Another helpful thing, as its being tackled so amicably might be a thank you gift of some headphones, so she can watch tv with the volume on, but not disturbing you?

A big gift, indeed, but worth it for sleep and to keep relations good! A thank you cake and cup of tea might be nice too?

I hope things now settle down, but frankly if you can hear your other neighbours "telephones and toilets flushing and taps running, the man downstairs early morning prayers, a plug being removed from a socket" you have a problem with the construction of the block of flats, not the neighbours.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Sometimes with my job I have to do a run of nights. Usually on my first night off I am unable to sleep because I am still in night duty mode. The sound of plumbing and praying/chanting have never bothered me in the least. I was just trying to illustrate that I am not intolerant of noise as such.

Anyway, I have had two peaceful nights sleep and so tonight if the lady wants to party I wont have any problem with that.

My main problems was the lack of sleep.

She may have actually done me a favour. I am at the age where I have started to notice that I often have to ask people to repeat what they are saying to me.
I will be mindful of the volume of my own telly now.

My dad has lost a significant amount of hearing but for some reason he doesn't wear his hearing aid. The television volume drives my mum mad.

I have wondered if the lady has a hearing aid which she doesn't wear and hopefully she is wearing it now whilst watching telly.

Thanks again for all your input.

Oh dear, I'm guessing she didn't realise just how loud it was! Hopefully now she's realised she'll be as quiet as a mouse and you can get some sleep OP!
