Exactly if there is such a backlog work extra hours like the rest of us have too, they could also work bank holidays ha ha.

Since the process is 'online' it is the computer capacity that will dictate how much can be processed. The capacity will depend on how much money the Government was prepared to spend in the computer system.

The computer software is contracted to a computer company, not done by HMRC employees.

Spare a thought for the Call Centre staff who can only relay what they have been told.

The call centes are in various places around the country- no where near where the processing is being done and the staff have no direct contact with the processing centre.

They will be as frustrated as you are that they can give no more information.

OK, I submitted my return on the 7th and had a repayment sent to me on the 14th. I stupidly put in the wrong sort code so it was returned and I have to request payment again, but the bottom line is, it was all smooth sailing for me to get that first payment sent by HMRC.

Just rung them , they said they have been given new guidance as of today that any repayments due from the 7th are all delayed due to system update. They said that they should all be up & running by the 20/04-21/04. Then they will deal with the backlog. Unless u have been selected for checks like myself supposedly . We shall c . Keep updating people

I'm in that same security checks boat Sammy, let's just wait And see now I guess.

Just logged back in to check and it said can take up to 4 weeks from today but the email didn't have a date on and It just says I sent it on 17th April ? Dunno if they had replied then or today as it was saying I had no new messages. Clicked on my messages by accident to find that message. So confused whether this was sent on Friday before they released the system muck up admittance today ??? I am not ringing again as I look desperate and quite frankly my civil tongue is slowly dwindling away as the days pass lol
