What the heck is going on on our Roads??

Seems to have been a huge jump in the number of people killed on our roads here in Northern Ireland in the last few weeks... What the heck is going on?
Is it the drivers, the pedestrians or a mixture of both...
I have seen my fair share of idiotic driving over the last few months on the roads but I have also seen a fair amount of idiotic pedestrians just walking across roads and road junctions without the thought of looking or giving way to oncoming traffic..

I think the police possibly need to start cracking down on both as I think people, both drivers and pedestrians are starting to get VERY Selfish and pig headed as of late.... both thinking the other should give way to them without any use of common sense or rules of the road...

One prime example I've seen a LOT of recently with Pedestrians is when a car is turning from a main road onto a side road.... The Pedestrians just keep on walking across the road without looking...... I know as a driver you have to watch out for pedestrians crossing a road into which you are turning. but it is only if they have started to cross that they have priority and you should give way.... likewise surely it's the responsibility of the pedestrian to be aware and not to start crossing when a car is in the process of turning into the side road.....

Be careful out there folks.....

It's only when th eyehole is turning left that the pedestrian has priority. Pedestrians are supposed to allow a vehicle to turn right into a side road.

I'm sure there's nothing significant going on. The road death rate is still much lower than it was in the 50s.

Drivers not knowing how to use roundabouts is another of my pet hates..... between using incorrect lanes or poor indicating..

I've noticed however quite a few road/roundabouts junctions have, to me, quite badly placed zebra crossings on them..... the one at Stranmillis and Ladas Drive on the Cregagh Road to name two of the top of my head.... The zebra crossings are pretty much right on the junctions meaning cars have to stop on the roundabouts..... Not Good on busy roads...... surely it would have been better to move the zebra crossings further up the road a bit..... would be safer in my view..

I get the bus into work and so you have a perfect view into cars and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that are sitting on FB while driving! What can be so important on social media that they risk their own lives and other people's?

I live near Craigavon ,famous for its roundabouts .Drivers never indicate .Then some plonker will pull up behind me and beep the horn because I stopped at a roundabout ,well if other drivers indicated I might not have to stop and watch to see where they are going .

    Not true.
Pedestrians have priority whatever direction the car is coming.
