Holiday Destinations for Female Solo

Pisa, Naples, Rome, Florence - didn't really like being in any of them. Slightly better in the far north where the people seem to have more in common with their neighbours over the border than they do with people further south. I wouldn't say any of it was a problem, just that the experience was less pleasant than in most other places I've been so I have no desire to return.
I agree with Berlin as a good destination (and Copenhagen as mentioned earlier).
I lived in Italy and love the country however I wouldn't choose it as a solo female over other places in Europe. I prefer the North too. It's hard to explain why but I find the people in the north easier to deal with.
I think the problem I'd have with Italy would be the eating out or going to a bar alone. It's a lot easier in other parts of Europe as a single female.
I also agree with Berlin, I'd have no problem there on my own. Same with Amsterdam.
I've also started to use airbnb in Europe instead of hotels and have found it much easier. If I was on my own I'd definately consider it as I've found it nice to stay in some evenings and cook dinner. Eating out every meal can become tiresome (and expensive) and it can be fun to go to the local supermarket and make food yourself if you've rented a nice apartment.0 -
Perhaps you you could list the tourist traps? I have no idea what or where these places are?
It was 19 years ago so the specifics are somewhat hazy now, but if you think any major tourist destination doesn't have it's share of places that prey on those tourists you're very naive.0 -

I'm definitely going to look into Copenhagen.
I've been to Berlin, Barcelona, Prague, Lisbon and enjoyed all for a few days but I felt I was there one day too long for all of them. Barcelona, I particularly liked and I can see why all these are being recommended for travelling solo. Kind of wish I had them to go back too.0 -
If you enjoy holidaying with smartphone in hand, Helsinki is great.
If you'd rather slow down & enjoy the coffee with a sticky bun, Tallinn is just over the water.0 -

Have you been to Madrid? I prefer it over Barcelona. Plenty to do but not as many tourist or pickpockets. You can also have days out to loads of places (I think it might have been Toledo? I took the train too). Tapas bars are much better tha Barceolna too.0 -

I've only been for 24 hours and didn't nearly get enough out of it. I don't know why I didn't think of that sooner!

Hi all,
I'm looking for some inspiration. I was wondering if people had some good suggestions for either weekend travel for a solo female. I have very recently done a Paris day trip and a week in Seoul. Now I would like some ideas for Europe.
I have been looking at 4-5 days in Poland (Krakow - Warsaw) but I've had some issues with the Polish ex so I am currently anti-Poland and it will just make me sad/mad being there. I will go but when I'm not so sore about it.
I'm looking for a short beach break (I've been looking at Split) on one occasion and a short city break on another. Ideally I'll go between May - July and 3/4 days each.
So does anyone have an advice/experience of solo travel in Europe to impart on me?
Hi, not what you were asking but this made me think a lady friend of mine in her late sixties went last year to Cuba, said it was a great holiday loved the history of the place0
