Policy Shop cancelled my home insurance!

The postman signing is a red herring as far as your cancellation goes.
You cannot expect this matter to be resolved quickly ( they have 8 weeks to respond to your complaint)
You still have time to get a new policy in place so that you aren't left uninsured.
(Although you can make a complaint verbally in view of the problems a written complaint may be better. And with a written complaint you do have the start of the paper chain. Keep a copy. Use the email in #6 or RM Don't use recorded delivery - a cert of posting will be enough.)0 -

Thanks. Yes my priority tomorrow is get something in place (it gets cancelled tomorrow) and get complaint in.
Should it be policy shop as broker or actual insurance company I complain to?0 -

Spoke to another dept who said they were moving so having phone problems. Great.[/QUOTE]
That is sufficient. You can complain by any reasonable means and any expression of dissatisfaction meets the FCA definition of "complaint".
e-mail them to confirm your complaint by telephone on Saturday 11 April 2015 which was received by XXX department who confirmed that they were having problems with their telephones.0 -
Hmm. Just spoke to Policy Shop.
They swear blind that I did not add the claims onto the form but, of course, I cant really prove it now.
They are saying that the insurer voided it because this particular insurer will not insure anyone with any claims in the last 5 years. So there is no way to go forward with this insurer.
They have offered to find an alternative but I am still concerned about this cancellation. They are saying it was voided but the letter still says "Risk is unnacceptable - policy will be cancelled".
I've tried saying to them that, no matter who is right, they have acted unfairly in cancelling without giving me the chance to sort it out and that the cancellation will now cause me lots of grief.
I've escalated it as an official complaint now. Hoping ombudsman sees it my way too.0 -
Did you fill in the form on their website directly, or did you use a comparison website?0

Seems the quidco quote does not have the claims on. Possibly my fault now but Im sure I did put them on.
OK. Changes things I guess.
I put correct no claims (i.e. contents 4 years and buildings 1 year) but not the corresponding claims to tie this up. Yes its my fault but I still think its a little unfair to now serve me with a cancellation.
Surely if they'd contacted me this could have been sorted out. One mistake potentially on my part is now going to have huge implications.
Assuming any replacement I get (for now) needs to have this cancellation listed (at least until its sorted out?)0 -
Update. Fair play to Policy Shop they have sorted this out.
In the end, they just charged me for the time on cover, and have let me cancel the policy rather than them doing it so no drama now. Good on them for that.
Still think the practice within the industry of cancelling policies without giving the policyholder chance to resolve small mistakes is wrong. Interestingly, the FOS seem to agree with me if you check their website. In fact, I'd be confident that any complaint would be upheld if this ever happened again.0 -

As they originally wrote to you giving you formal notice they were cancelling your policy you need it in writing from them that this cancellation has been withdrawn and no cancellation has been registered against you.
And keep it in case this comes back to bite in years to come.0 -

Yes :-)
I have asked them to do this.0
