You can find the genuine Miele bags on market stalls, and sometime car boots as well, for a big saving. It's the only way I buy mine now, I buy a few boxes at a time then start looking out for cheap deals again when they get low.

Ok you hoover everyday and 1 box of 4 bags last you 1 year?

Yes. I hoover every day and we live in a rural area so often there is mud in the outside hall way, play doh in the house, etc.

We also have an open fire, so once a week I give the grate a very good clean out and hoover up all the ash/dust. I try and sweep up as much ash as I can and then hoover the rest. The filter is superb. I also hoover out the tumble dryer filters etc with it and clean the car.

I can't advise you as whether to get other brands or not as I have always bought the Miele ones. However, I have noticed the Miele ones get really, really full before you notice a decrease in suction. They are practically solid with dust/play-doh (!) before they need changing.

I have also the dust filter in the washing machine and it was fine! (The removable material bit)

To be honest, if it was just one box for £15 I may look around but Miele always seem to run the two boxes for £15 offer, so it makes the price much reasonable.

The official miele uk website currently has two boxes of FJN for £15 post free.
Thats 8 bags, just under £2 each including filters.

    Seems good enough.

Sorry to sound like a newbie but whenever I vacuum I can see the orange bag indicator quickly display. Is this normal?

Does that mean I need a new bag? I just start using my brand new miele today.

No, it either means you need to change the filter or there is a blockage.

The orange sign doesn't mean the bag is full, it means the suction is reduced/blocked.

Normally the orange indicator shows that the bag is full but if you've just started using it and you haven't just hoovered up a ton of dust, fluf etc, then it suggests you have a problem of some sort.

Follow the instructions for changing the bag just to have a look if the bag is seated ok. Check for blockages in the pipework and around the filter too.

If all seems ok and the bag isn't full, you'll just have to put a call in under warranty.

Has anyone experience this new issue?:

The 3 supplied mini attachments with my vacuum, strangely the dust/fluff gets trapped in the round plastic housing of the attachment so whenever I disconnect the attachment from my miele the dust/fluff goes everywhere causing a mess. I thought it should end up in the bag. There's no blockages.

    Any advise?

That's odd. I suggest using a fresh bag before doing anything else. Are the attachments definitely clicking on positively? Are there any burrs or projections in the fittings that could catch fluff?

    Hi

The orange indicator measures the air pressure and is the bag change indicator.

While in general use the indicator will often show some orange, this is normal. To actually check if the bag needs changing disconnect the hose from the body and turn the vacuum on to full power, this let's the indicator give you a true reading.

Please remember it's a bag change indicator not a bag full indicator.
