Car clocked

How much did you originally pay, and what amount is the dealer offering to buy the car back?0

We paid £4000 (the car was worth £2500) and he's offered to buy the car back for £1500.....yes I know that's the amount of compensation we want want but his offer is just for the car....we've tried to be amicable and offer to meet in the middle at around £2000 (for the car and compensation) but he won't budge and been quite threatening.0

The dealer says you knew the mileage wasn't guaranteed, you say you didn't. Unless you have proof, there would be no way you would be able to get anything. You bought the car without doing any checks of your own, you say he wrote on the paperwork that the mileage wasn't guaranteed, i don't see where you can go with this.0

The dealer can't prove it either. And it doesn't matter what he wrote on the paperwork, the paperwork is for the exchange of money, not for the condition of the car. My husband has a friend who works for a legal firm and this is what he told us.0

It doesn't matter that the dealer can't prove it, you are the one claiming money so you have to prove it is owed. You not having any proof is all the proof he needs to deny owing you anything.0

I wonder if I can sue my mother for the mole I have on my leg.0

What about the ferret that went up your trouser leg while chasing the mole?Stevie_Palimo wrote: »I wonder if I can sue my mother for the mole I have on my leg. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The car was only a bit cheaper than what the other cars were and like I also stated this we were lead to believe was due to the fact of having no service history. It was worth £1500 less than what we paid. Had it been ridiculously cheap then yes I could understand your comment, but it wasn't.
The car was overpriced and according to the CAB's website we are entitled to the difference between what we paid then and what it's worth was in 2012.
Did you see this AA HPI check and not just taking this mechanics word for it.0 -
My car is an 05 reg which i've had about 8yrs, but i hardly use it and have only got a bit over 30k on the clock, so i keep all my Mot certificates so that at any time in the future the mileage can be checked.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Have you factored in the fact that you've used the car, with no trouble, for 3 years or more ?0
