Perhaps you should be speaking to the CAB or Trading Standards about this?
They said the £44 was for clearance to work with children and also anti terrorism checks, they said I would get the money back in my first wage. But if I don't take any other job except the one I applied for (which is miles different from the one they have offered me in office work today) then I,ll never get it back.
If I had accepted the office job they offered me today then surely I wouldn't of needed anti terrorism checks and working with children in the first place because it was just a bog standard office job that they offered me.?0 -

Shame the agency!
I wish I could lufgirl,I cant because I have a very faint hope they will offer me the job I went in and applied for.
Half of me is hoping they will contact me and offer the job,the other half thinks they are taking the you know what out of me.Because Ive never ventured into these type of agencys before Im just not sure if this is the norm?
Maybe Im being naïve ??0 -
You learn to distrust with experience
I've said it before but if I could moneyclaim the lot I would - and that would extend to a bank agency..0 -

Saving themselves a lot of money in the process too.
For the same reason people don't fix their own cars.
If a company specialises in shipping for example, what do they know about recruitment. Yes they can place an advert but if that's what you think recruitment is then you're wrong,
It takes years of networking to have a good base of candidates, you don't get this overnight.0 -
All the recruitment agents are going to do is scan the CV's to get the buzzwords that your job description demands. You could do that yourself with software fitted that doesn't cost a bomb. Infact looking on the web there are free download tools available. You could do that yourself and you would still have to find the time to interview them even if a recruitment agent picked your candidates
Again £5,400 spent by you, Do you consider that good value?
No - we like to throw money away, that's how every business operates, by spending money on unnecessaries.
Back in the real world, the only time the fee really hurts is if the employee leaves after a few months. Otherwise if the employee is the right person for the role, then it is money well spent.
Please let me know where this free software is that will do the work of a recruitment consultant but won't take hours or days of my time - I won't mind not paying their fees, nor hold my breath waiting your reply.....0 -

Not my fault If you can't do a basic google search. Plenty of free trials and even free usage on some new accounts. Is this enough for you?

You would still have to find the time to interview some of these clowns they are likely to put your way.
Still let the recruitment consultants do the business for you eh, as they always know best;)0 -

In the past, far more companies applied for staff directly, rather than going through agencies.
It means they gain more control over the process. Has the quality of staff improved since the trend for companies using agencies began? I doubt it.
Most medium to large-sized companies have their own HR department. Surely HR can deal with recruitment, as well as personnel issues of existing staff. They are likely to have had more professional training (diplomas or whatever) in recruitment, than many staff at recruitment agencies too. Ironically it is small companies that are amongst the most likely to recruit directly (alongside charities and public service employers).
Recuitment should be just about the most important thing that an HR department is involved in. Instead, they too often hive this job off to another company (ie: a recruitment agency).
Instead, HR departments seem to concentrate far too much on introducing methods and practices to the workplace whereby staff are micro-managed over every trivial thing.0 -
mine keep getting me to training places and no shifts. i learnt how to dispense ice cream in a mr whippy van for events and ate a free ice cream for the reward. just want to start the job.
