    No.

Since it is not their fault they do not have to pay compensation, but they are still obliged to provide "care", which means food and accommodation for stranded passengers.

Sorry - our circumstances are different so I may be getting confused.

Ryanair have refused our claim (we found out our flight was cancelled 1 hour BEFORE we got to the airport so did not need accommodation, we just stayed home).

We booked another flight with another provider from another airport (as Ryanair were unable to re book us for another week which was no good since we had already paid for our hotel & booked time off work)

We tried to claim the additional cost of this flight (eg the difference between the Ryanair flight and the new flight, the additional taxi cost to a further airport and the nights lost at our hotel).

We were told to claim for these on our travel insurance which unfortunately does not cover strike action (yes I should have checked the small print)

Ryanair are correct. All they are responsible for is to refund the cost of the flight you had booked with them.
