Wind does not just knock a wall over like that! The wall clearly fell over due to being in a poor state of repair.

Can your insurance company not chase his home insurance for payment on full?

My parents did not have to pay their excess when something similar happened (wind blew some garden furniture that neighbour had not secured down properly which caused damage to their house). The neighbours home insurance paid out in full.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • They seem unwilling to have my claim put through their home insurance and my car insurance wont claim from them either so im going to have to do it through small claims myself if Im able to have a case. Im writing a letter to ask for their home insurance report to see what they said about it and go from there I guess.

Going through insurance is always the correct answer.

Especially with motoring accidents those saying they'll sort it out without involving insurance are usually liars.

One for myself and once for my wife we'd been involved in shunts where the other driver was apologetic, and then soon afterwards tried to claim it wasn't their fault.

Your car insurance are being rubbish then!

You should find out the full cost of the repair, then seek the full amount from your neighbour and the repay the insurance bill. This way you won't lose any no claims.

  • actually where i live (canterbury) a wall like that blew over when we had strong winds, looking at the piccys you have posted its only a single brick wide, and too high for a single brick wall to be strong and probably a poor grade cement, so yes a good bit of wind will/has blown it over it was probably weak to start with.
luckily your car looks to only have suffered superficial damage, maybe they have no home insurance?
anyway i hope you get it sorted and i hope you find a safer parking spot.

If the insurance company write that off they are having a laugh! I would imagine those repairs would easily cost less than £300 if someone was doing it for mates rates.

You really made a mistake not letting them do the work. Its just minor denting! How could that possibly do any real mechanical damage?

If you really think your car is that worthless I would have just left it and carried on driving it complete with dents.
