Good manners is everything.
OK, unless it's nonsensical bowing till your spine breaks.
Or believing that there are people who ought to be superior to you and you should accept historical hierarchies.
I'll hold a door open for - well, everybody really. If someone doesn't hold a door open for me I'll assume they're too old to have caught up with the positive aspects of the new world we live in.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
HAMISH - Just a thought. I've often noticed that second hand cars can be cheaper on the continent than in the UK. In addition I would imagine that almost anywhere is going to use less salt on their roads than Aberdeen. Also, your journey is going to be mostly on the RHS of the road.
Have you considered buying your car from a furren country?0 -

Me too. If I'm in a position to hold a door open, then I do .... I never think about who it is, or what they're doing.... if a door needs holding open then that's what you do.
Tall/short
Fat/thin
Old/young
With baggage/pushchairs/wheelchairs or not
Posh/pauper
It's a door..... it's not hard to do it.
It's also the "quick fix to anxiety" solution.... I never have to think about distance/speed and whether they'll end up with the door in their face, or if they'll shout at me, or if they'll chase after me and bop me on the nose. If I'm holding it open then I know I won't end up embarrassing myself through carelessness or stupidity. Win:win.0 -
Perhaps he is worried that if the steering wheel is on the wrong side Mrs McT will end up doing most of the driving....
DD1 is not hopeless at maths but she needs to have much more of the basics (rearrange to solve for x, cancel top and bottom) drummed into her and much less time trying to teach new concepts where they only do about 2 example questions because it takes them a while because they can't do the basics quickly. I am starting to see that private school is perhaps of more value if you are OK but not really able where as the really able will succeed even at state school.I think....0 -
Need to get my mental health to a less "overwhelmed and exhausted" state before any of that would be practicable.
+1. There's a possibility of a speed dating event local to me, but I'm not sure whether I'd have the energy to do any follow-through proper dates (or whatever the meeting-up would be called). Also, these things go so much on appearances, and I know I'm nothing to look at, never usually bother with make-up, so suddenly feel more insecure than I usually would do. Hmm, decisions.we won!
:Tcopious amounts of sauce (mayo, andalouse, americaine, samurai...)
Do you have to eat the samurai sauce with a knife?

So then I chose some stuff from drop downs, looked up the two figures and typed them in. Nearly done .... it was time for a chip break.
Cheesy chips and hot sausages with ketchup ..... and then I logged back on to do the bank/interest figures and press the final "Yeah, go for it then" button.
Petrifies me all that does..... it's simple, quick, easy ..... but it's that fear factor that keeps you holding on until the very last minute you dare
Can we change the subject now
I was surprised how much anguish is caused by tax returns. I thought it was just me. I have decided to make a start in April and see whether I can get it all done by May.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I had looked at it and some people do it that way.
But a number of logistics reasons for us dictate otherwise.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I know a lad (well man) who does speed dating.
The thing is he wears makeup for men. I'm not convinced the world is ready for speed dating men with makeup though.0 -

Mrs McT is an excellent driver and any rumours that she has [STRIKE]crashed[/STRIKE] had unexpectedly close encounters with other vehicles, stationary objects, or wildlife in every single car we've ever owned are entirely spurious.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
