I had a lump removed from my tongue years ago. I expected that would be bloody awful, but the reality was that it went very smoothly and I felt very little. Afterwards, it was more uncomfortable than painful. The worst part was waiting for the biopsy result.
Hooray for local anaesthetics! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
It's 37 degrees Farenheit here. If that.
I'm smiling to myself as DPD are delivering me a parcel. I know we all like DPD. Clive is on delivery 14 and I'm number 30.
"Apparantly" Yodel had three failed delivery attempts last week while refusing me the option to change my delivery on their tracking system and not leaving one card on any of those attempts. They then demanded that I drive a 28 mile trip to collect my duvet set... But their collection depot is only open every second Wednesday between 2-2.25pm or something. The polar opposite of DPD.
I placed that order on the 5th. I complained to the retailer and they've organised another Yodel delivery for today. Ironic that DPD are bringing me stuff I ordered on Sunday afternoon.
Go, Clive!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

There was an interesting documentary series on a couple of years ago, presented by Hilary Devey (?) of Dragons Den fame. She is the CEO or similar of a big trucking and transportation company in the UK, if memory serves right.
She investigated gender issues in the workplace, one of which was about the performance of single gender teams vs mixed gender. Almost universally, the mixed gender teams did better.
They also did some research among business women who would be eligible (in terms of experience) to apply for senior management level (perhaps including Board level) positions. The way in which the adverts were worded had a significant impact on whether the women felt they were either qualified for, or attracted by, the position.
The usual way of describing desirable attributes of prospective candidates almost always appealed far more to men than women.
It was a really eye opening few programmes.
She set up the first pallet distribution network - in other words, treating pallets in the same way as you do parcels with a hub and franchise system.
Knew someone that worked with her, said she was hard as nails but could sell sand to Arabs.
Women, from other articles that I have read, are just generally more likely to lack confidence and think they have something to contribute -t hey almost need someone to say they should go for a position.Well that's a new one.
I was on the ferry with Mrs Generali going home from work when we pulled in to one of the wharves. We were just about to pull away when about 20 racing yachts came flying (actually sailing) around the headland and bombed past us went around a bouy just past us and came back around. I have been late home for many reasons (usually because pub) but never because of yacht race.
.
Worth being late for. I can remember from over twenty years ago, being delayed for a delivery in Southampton. A balloon festival was due later that day, it was around 07.00 at that point, and about 30 balloons were just hanging in the still hazy morning air, it was a beautiful sight.0 -
Would you lose the ability to wheel stuff round to the back garden if you build an extension? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

I'll get there in the end!
It's a huge bonus to be able to live in the house and think about how you would like to improve things for a long time before making a start on the project. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Just noted that both Petrol and diesel has dropped to under a pound, at our local Sainsbury's.
Happy days!0 -
Am I right in thinking that not moving the kitchen door does not stop all the other btst happening so is something you could decide to do later once you have a feel of how the other changes impact?I think....0

You don't buy petrol very often do you.
I must the only one who sees the price cuts and feels slightly miffed as it reduces the savings from having an electric car that I calc'd based on diesel at £1.20.....I think....0 -

PN, one of the kitchen changes is that there will be a window in the kitchen at the back, so light should come through from the back of the house to the front door. Should make a world of difference.0
