Punch I found the quickest, least painful, least scarring and healed the quickest. It will only be a couple of stitches (you may even get away with one) and will hardly show.
Thanks Viva!I'll be glad to get the thing out to be honest. It's on the top of my arm, and in an awkward place to watch to see if it's getting bigger or not. Definite colour change over some years, possibly slowly getting bigger. I can't take photos of it myself to compare and contrast as I'm too shakey. OH is useless at doing those kind of photos - he's tried in the past, results were totally useless!

Think about what you are going to wear on the day. If you have to wear a coat because it is so bloomin' cold, see if you have one that doesn't weigh too much and won't push down on your arm. Under that, something that has loose sleeves on, maybe with a vest top underneath would be ideal, that way you can whip off whatever is over the top and make it easier to get to and be comfortable once you are patched up and on your way home.
If they thought it was melanoma, they would probably have scheduled the appt under the two week rule, so that's good news too. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Today I wore a sleeveless cashmere sweater thing, and a lightweight wool jacket. Prob wear much the same unless we have a hot Feb! :rotfl: They seemed to say that they can just take me in the wheelchair and do the procedure with me sitting in that. The pamphlet they gave me said relatives not allowed in operating theatre, but I think it'll just be in a room, so OH can come in maybe... He didn't pass out while I was giving birth, so think he prob would cope OK! :rotfl:vivatifosi wrote: »If they thought it was melanoma, they would probably have scheduled the appt under the two week rule, so that's good news too.
This appt was under the 2 weeks rule. I was surprised the next one was so fast. But will be glad to get it over and done with before spring/summer.
Think I should try schedule eye tests and new glasses and the next rake of dental treatment over these weeks! :rotfl:0 -
Either michaels really trusts Royal Mail or really doesn't trust me.... no senders addresses on my parcel!

So their hours are bloody awful just the "normal" day that they don't get to work as have to do overtime. The pay is pretty poor for what they have to do anyway, so the overtime they get just about brings them level to such as other post graduate level jobs. Except it doesn't really. What price do you put on having your life saved? Or your partner or children's lives saved?
The problem though is money is finite so if we spend more money paying junior doctors we have to spend less on something else. What do we not want the NHS to do instead? Perhaps we stop treating some rare types of cancer for example, probably not much bang for the buck there.
Good luck with the biopsy. Granny-in-law has moles removed every year as a Pom living in North Queensland. MIL now seems to have much the same. MIL is back at work the following day.
Try to think of it as a positive thing: at least they're treating it seriously and this is most likely just a precaution anyway.
All the best from the other side of the world.0 -

Thanks Maggie - I agree that does sound sneaky and unfair - as I say the problem for an outsider is knowing what the dispute is about, the BBC don't seem to get much beyond the headline of a 11% pay rise. IN general I think it makes more sense to fix the basic salary than for Doctors to be trying to max out their overtime to make up for poor basic pay. Just comparing to normal office hours I can't see how working after 8PM or Sundays could not be considered needing overtime although I guess in retail and other service industries al hours are often 'standard'.
I can also see that the current weekend mortality figures are terrible and it would seem a shame not to try to improve matters just because as a country we can't afford to pay the overtime for weekend working, I think the govt would be neglecting its duty if it had just ducked the issue and carried on with the status quo to avoid confrontation.I think....0 -

Glad it reached - not bad 2nd class posted 5PM Friday - lack of senders address was just me being lazy. I find it very easy to waste a lot of time on vevo watching all the oldies.
I hope Lydia's arrived too, she hasn't mentioned it.I think....0 -

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Well that's a new one.
I was on the ferry with Mrs Generali going home from work when we pulled in to one of the wharves. We were just about to pull away when about 20 racing yachts came flying (actually sailing) around the headland and bombed past us went around a bouy just past us and came back around. I have been late home for many reasons (usually because pub) but never because of yacht race.
It's going to be 37C tomorrow and 38C the day after. Thank the Lord for swimming pools.0
