Pork Pies, Trev: whereabouts are you located?
Birds, based in Derby area and branches in the general area, make brilliant pork pies. Packington Pork , based near Lichfield /Tamworth, ditto.

Thanks, next time I'm in Derby I'll give Birds a try. Basically, you're right and I've been lazy by just trying Supermarkets. I'll give the local Butchers and Delis a try.
I'm also on a hunt for the best Black Pudding. I was recommended a Butchers in Inverness 10 years ago, and they were amazing. Trouble is I've forgotten the name.0 -

Chances are just about every Inverness butcher would be selling Stornoway black pudding.
Stornoway Black Pudding is Gods own creation, in many people's opinion the finest example of Black pudding anywhere in the World, with it's own protected status.
Either of these are very, very good...

Knowing there's a number of 'Foodies' on this thread, I've a question to ask about Pork pies, as I'm rather fond of them, in moderation
I always bought Melton Mowbray, as I always thought they were the best? It would appear not! I've tried all the major Supermarkets, and they've all disappointed. Crust not crusty, not enough aspic between crust and pie, and substandard contents of pies. I swear they must all be coming from the same Producer, as there's nothing to tell between them, even the Waitress one was just as bad!
So, please tell me, where can I find a decent Pork Pie
If you're anywhere near the northern suburbs of Sydney then my house can arrange a very good pork pie given enough notice.
In the UK I would imagine that there are a limited number of people that can supply pork pies on the sort of scale that a supermarket would accept.
On the other hand, there is almost an unlimited number of porkie pies in the world. For example, did I ever tell you that I know the Nigerian finance minister and he needs some help getting money out of the country....0 -

Back in my student days, a Malaysian housemate called me a "barbarian" for cooking black pudding !
This surprised me given his bragging about eating chicken feet; alsatian; rattlesnake slices etc.
...I refused to tell him what tripe was ...

PS IIRC, the Ginger Pig in Marylebone Rd and Borough Market does very good black pudding. I prefer the English style with large chunks of fat and rusk to the Scottish style with pin head oatmeal and smaller fat pieces.0

I loved black pudding as a kid but can't eat it now. I'm too scunnered by the concept. I'm puzzled by this as I'm happy to eat other foods that are ridiculously repulsive on paper.
Come to think of it we could all do with thinking a lot less about what our food is made of (or should that be a lot more?).There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Guys, do any of you know about computer security and what's possible on fb?
Equally, does anyone know what it's possible to get with an IP address and email? (nothing else)
I've just changed passwords on everything, however I have a feeling that a friends fb account has been hacked and messages sent, with a rather direct threat of 'you're next'. Security-sensitive documents are stored on my email (namely OH's induction documents), and even if printed/deleted (which I'm not in a position to do tonight), a copy of them would probably be somewhere.
Sorry if I seem overly cautious, but I feel the need to be at the moment.....💙💛 💔0 -

I'm happy to eat anything but prawns.....I remember when I was about 12 (family holiday in Spain) seeing them sitting there, and it put me off for life
