If Mrs Generali had her way the house would be 25C in the winter and 18C in the summer.
Mrs McT does have her way and the house is kept at Shorts and T-Shirt temperatures year round.
On a positive note however, Mrs McT still looks pretty good in shorts, so the exorbitant heating bill is worth it.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

We are having an economy drive so I let it go down to 17 at night, it is 22 all day - which is nice this morning with snow on the ground outside and a sleety horizontal mix coming down.
Good news is DS football in canx but still have To get up to take DD2 for an appointment and she may still have football which will be a bit raw.....
U am very grateful that my energy company, phone company, train company are private. The only nationalised services I have to use like health and hmrc and London transport are much less efficient and more likely to strike and in the case of the latter have staff who earn much more than equivalent workers.I think....0 -
Agree re the privatised utilities being more efficient and way cheaper. Remember when you were on something like £5k pa and had to pay a minimum of 10p for every call.
Something has gone wrong with trains though. If I take a bus locally in Herts it costs way more than in London, same with train vs tube. But even train vs train.. If I use the line that michaels, nikks and silver would use to go into London rather than my local line it is way cheaper. Am doing it myself today to go into town to watch Race of Champions.
I froze last time I went to the ROC too. It seems to bring the cold weather. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

If you reach the daily off peak cap on at least 2 days in one week and pay contactless or oyster, you get a good will refund from tfl. Automatically, don't even need to claim. It brings the daily off peak fare down to £8.90. London zones 1-6.
You will need to do some calculations as to whether it is worth splitting your journey at my nearest station and tapping in from there to take advantage.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I'd have to get off at (I think) Stratford to do that, which would be more hassle than any saving I'd make, especially as if going anywhere on the train I usually need Liverpool Street.
Never worked out if there's a cheaper solution💙💛 💔0 -

If I had a dollar for each day I came home from work to find all of the lights and the air con on then I'd be fractionally less broke. Some quarters I think that if I simply stayed home and turned off the lights and air con as they were turned on that I'd be better off than if I went to work.0 -

It's snowing quite heavily here today outside.
But inside it's a balmy 25C.:o“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I am toying with the idea of sending Mrs McT to the shop for bacon.
I did have bacon in the fridge last night, along with some rather tasty bottles of Cairngorm beer, however one thing led to another and now I am baconless, beerless, and mildly hungover.
Also in an act of exceptionally poor planning I did a slightly inebriated online Tesco shop last night that included bacon but scheduled the delivery for this evening instead of around now.
D'oh....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Fences down:(
The row that we had fixed with the (un) co operation of the neighbour were fixed with cement posts for 4 of the panels and one wooden post. Then follows 5 wooden posts that were fine in the Summer.
Now the storms have brought down the remaining posts and the wooden post that was fixed.
Only saving grace is that this lot can only fall in the neighbours direction as there is nothing to fall on to on our side.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
