I went to a girls grammar school about 10 miles away from home. It was a train ride away, with a bus to and from station/ school, though would often walk that bit.
It was worth it.
Congratulations to mini doozergirl0 -
Just to update you all, Josh has well and truly settled at uni and is loving it. He is home on Wednesday for a few days but not because he is homesick or wanting a break but because he has a gig to go to that he bought tickets for months ago!
He is branching out with his cooking, reminding himself he is cooking by setting alarms on his Ipad and so far, there have been no disasters (touching wood very firmly here!). It's still pretty basic stuff he is preparing but it is a start (he can do much more complex stuff when he is has someone there and reminding him - he did a 3 course meal for us before he went away, he is actually a very decent cook...just not when he is on his own, then he becomes a dangerous one)
He even managed to get on the bus yesterday with his flat mates, so progress indeed...not that he will do it on his own yet, he needed the safety in numbers.
His money is going fine, he is being very careful as he has no wish to run out but as a result, he is not doing the usual student thing and going to the SU etc. At the moment his spend rate is about £20 a week and that is mostly food and course related stuff...he hasn't even had a takeaway or a meal out in the time he has been there.
We do have to have almost nightly discussions via telephone to help him sort through the stuff they have done in lectures though, breaking it down into understandable chunks so that he can then make sense of it all as his verbal understanding is poor and I am about the only one who knows the tricks of how to get him to understand what is being said and get him to process it, spark ideas off it etc.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Did that from age 11 to 15. We then moved to the same town as school and I walked 45 mins instead.0 -

Grrrr... elsewhere on t'internet I have been reported for offensive content.
I was talking about Offa's Dyke (in its proper and historical context).
Some people...Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

IvyLeaf, thank you for thinking of me. :T :A
We had a fleeting trip home to Liverpool, Sunday lunch with DD2 and family, dealt with various property probs (selling for MiL) that seem to be going on for ages - what is it with conveyancing solicitors?
Thursday we set off for London to help out with DD1's new baby, our first Grand Daughter! :j Can't wait to break out the pink and purple and sparkles!Stopped in the Days Inn at Norton Canes to break the journey, arrived here Friday lunchtime-ish. Spent today in "bed" which is our double douvet folded in half on the living room floor as so knackered. Good to be in with the family though and part of the general chaos (in the nicest way).
Lovely to see dear GS3 again, he is getting very talkative (though I don't always understand what he's saying) and has an amazing capacity to entertain himself for hours on end! He's just under 2 and a half, so I'm amazed how well he concentrates and is happy to just play on his own with his cars and trains (he's particularly into steam trains
)
New GD was 2 weeks old yesterday. She has a good set of lungs! As usual I@d forgotten how tiny they are when newborn, and touched by the size of those little fingers and toes. And I love those little hand movements they make, like starfishes wafting through the air.
Too soon to say what plans are yet, but have an awful lot of stuff needs doing at home. Next door neighbour is going to keep an eye on the post for me, as my PIP stuff might arrive any time (between now and 2016/7) and given my luck it's bound to do so when I'm not there. :eek:
