.... or knowing that due to the above I'll miss Taste of Poland week at Lidl's

    Should I wear clean undies?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Looking at the bill for my parent's coffin I can only conclude it came fitted with extras like aircon; satnav; and decent ICE (In Coffin Entertainment).

It was the inconsistency that annoyed me with the FD. The wicker coffin I had sourced from a reputable online firm with good feedback was somehow inferior, without the FD even seeing it, and yet...when they managed to source an identical coffin this was somehow completely suitable.

I get it now. It's a business to them. I suppose those who are MSE savvy sort out all the details before someone passes away, but this does feel pretty cold.

ETA silvercar The synagogue scheme is a brilliant idea! What a shame not all places of worship do that.

I'm paying for my funeral over 5 years. It's a big chunk out of my pension, but I'm doing it because when my MIL died a few years ago she had saved for her funeral, and it was such a big load off our minds. She was of a generation where it was considered shameful not to have put money away for it.

I've chosen the hymns and everything! Ones which I love but which won't be too upsetting (I hope not anyway) for the family to sing.

I've no desire to eat Polish food, bought from Lidl.... so I'm not bothered if the world ends in 8 hours or 8 days. I'd like some warning though so I could go out and splash out on an indian takeaway or some similar last meal.

    Mmm, curry.

Made me hungry and also made me realise that I have not organised anything for dinner :(

My mother was never good at money planning, but the one thing she had paid for, for a long time, was a funeral plan.

When the Cancer became too much for us to support her at home, my sister and I had a lot to deal with in a short period.

Short story....sis cancelled the wrong direct debit -> the funeral plan was cancelled a couple of months before my mother passed away.

Of course, they had us on the technicality that we had cancelled (intentionally or not), and it all came to nought :(.

It involves sausage so it can't be that bad.

Their own brand vodka is called 'Putinoff'. Made me smile.

Urg, I found it really hard to choose the hymns. Easier for my Dad than my Mum. I really wanted All Things Bright and Beautiful for my Mum, but OH stuck his oar in and said he hated it. So we had Morning Has Broken instead. :( Nobody knew it. I'm still angry (8 years later) that I didn't stand by my original choice - it was really for Mum, it was a vision of her Faith which I believe was strong but simple.

    Don't quote, might delete...

I did speak at her funeral in the Church about her life.

Dad had died just over 6 weeks earlier. It was weird, we had to get someone from Mum's (secure) Nursing Home to come with her to the funeral and wake after. Hymn choice was easier for him!

Here's my and my elder daughter's memories of my Dad as we spoke in Church at his funeral.

Always difficult choices for stuff like this I think. I've told OH that the only thing I really want played at my funeral is Anything That's Rock'n'Roll's Fine! But a good second is I Won't Back Down.
