He's a handsome, rather large (!) chappie Mrs MoneyPenny!DD2's interview.. she is waiting to hear from them but there were 2 other young women there.. one was wearing a tracksuit and the other had about 25 facial piercings. She is confident lol
A friend, newly working in an area of high unemployment, found that a great many job-seeking youngsters were being forced into interviews and that even when she offered them the job, more than one just didn't turn up. Good luck to your DD2 - I hope she gets the job and it works for her.
Thank you so much, all of you, for your kind support and the comments you have made. I'm very touched by them and it has made a horrible situation bearable.Better is good enough.0 -
HB - I'm sure the right dog will come along in the end.
Re the job interviews, I think because some people are forced to attend interviews they deliberately sabotage them so they can remain on the dole.
Everything I wanted to do this morning is done, and the dogs have had a walk. I'm just having an early lunch then I'm going to see about joining a village sports club, haha.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
This morning Mr N put me to shame by dusting/polishing dining room while I was still having breakfast.
*I've been to the church, watered all flower arrangements which are thankfully still looking good after Easter. Vacuumed the floor while I was there (always far more of a novelty than vacuuming at home)
*Mr N & I just taking a break for continuing to tidy patio area outside conservatory - setting up summer stuff like fountain, bird table, organising pots, scraping moss and weeding beds. Lots of visitors next w/e so as this area can be seen from house, and may sit out if nice, want to get it all sorted.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -

Does she find that they turn up looking shabby so they are not offered the jobs? My daughter is pretty desperate to have money she doesn't really care where she works so long as they pay her.. she wants to buy clothes and make up and other girl type things.
It is really high unemployment here. Many decent jobs have several hundreds of people applying for just 1 position, it must be so hard as an employer to turn down all the others knowing most have families to feed and bills to pay.
My OH has a degree in computer engineering and there is absolutely nothing in that field, he looks for jobs, sends in his CV they often ignore his applications and if they do speak to him they decide he is 'over qualified' .. how can you be over qualified for a job? surely that's not even possible.. it's really demoralising and as for the young people, the ones who want to work cannot find any and the ones who don't are seemingly quite happy to trot along to these interviews wasting everyones time and money because they won't go anyway.. DS1 hasn't had a job lasting more than 3 months since he left school and he is now 23.. he has 11 GCSE's and 4 A-levels.. he isn't daft he is just not given the opportunities. I have both him and OH starting college this September because none of us can carry on like this!
It makes me cross!
Hopefully DD2 will get this opportunity.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Good afternoon one and all. Been sidetracked by a streaming cold. Finally starting to feel better.
Congrats to Mrs MP on the new arrival. He is gorgeous. I was amazed by the weight too - I failed to deliver 3 babies who were all less than 7lb.
We had an up and down day yesterday - DD1 passed her driving test at the first attempt. She was completely convinced she would fail. This will give her new freedom when she gets her own car. We are delighted.
But just as DD1 was celebrating DD2 received a phone call from the surveyor who was about to do the survey on the house they were buying. He hadn't even gone in, but he thought it was steel framed. He later phoned back to confirm that it does have a steel frame, and he has seen evidence of movement.
They had decided to avoid houses of non standard construction. They had been repeatedly reassured by the agent that this housE was fine. They have this in writing. Yet again they stand to lose about £1K. Does anyone know if they can claim against the agent for misrepresentation?
In other news much washing has been blown dry in the breeze. The last load of bedding is in there now.
Hope everyone else is having a good day. Hugs to Honeybear re the dogs. Such a tough call to make.:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -

I have achieved everything I set out to do today except update my expenses claim (which I will do next while drinking a :coffee: and waiting for our sausages and chips to cook) and watch a DVD (which is for after tea anyway). The weather has been beautiful, and the head gardener at the NT property we visited gave me a few seed heads of this. It may be invasive, but it is said to keep moles away, so I shall be very glad to have it in my garden! It's also fully edible and very pretty0 -
Well today I have cleaned the bathroom
Tidied and hoovered the spare room
Fetched the weekly shopping (Ald* was remarkably busy even at 8.30 this morning!!)
WMx1
TDx1
Updated the assessments of the final 23 children (phew!)
and now I'm lesson planningGo hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0
