Morning all.
Yesterday was a lovely day. It was spent with family, eating mostly chocolate and best of all not a penny spent making it my first NSD of the week :T. I also went over to the OS boards for a look around and for some inspiration. On your recommendations I had a look at the' not buying it' thread and it seems it is right up my street. Only trouble is the thread is so fast moving I'm afraid if I start from the beginning I'll never catch up :rotfl: Also joined the fly ladies, what a lovely bunch of peeps. Hoping they can help me keep my house in order..
Yesterday was also spent reading some blogs on simple living. Now this is something I have been reading about for a while and whilst I have no desire to become a minimalist and move into a tiny house I do want to try and slowdown, enjoy my home more, live a bit more mindfully and try and step back from this fast paced life that we seem to have become accustomed to. The key theme that I notice from reading these blogs is that in order to really live the life we are after it is important to eliminate the debt, leaving us the options to spend time doing the things we really want. It has made me realise that I am serious about doing this now instead about reading other peoples journeys and seems to fit in well with my timing of debt demolishing. So I guess from now on this diary might be a tale of two halves, debt busting and slowing our life down.
No time like the present as I love a good plan.
Debt Busting
Out today with the family. In laws driving so no petrol costs, light lunch to buy and then back to parents for dinner.
Slowing Down
Nice breakfast in bed
Spend some time in the garden enjoying the sunshine
Start to have a clear out of the spare bedroom which will fit in nicely with flylady aswell.
Only a short list as we will be out for most of the day but normality will resume tomorrow when I back to work

Morning Daisy, sounds like your having a lovely Easter, breakfast in bed you lucky thing!
I know what you mean about the thread moving quickly, I started out well, but then couldn't keep up, I tend to read the last 3/4 pages.
I also like the Kon Marie thread about decluttering, and have made a start at home.
I've been practicing some mindful meditation, I saw a thread on the Health and Beauty board about Headspace Meditation so am going to investigate that further.
Have a lovely day out, hope it's sunny where you are, it's gorgeous in the Midlands, just out for a walk/ jog with the dog xxx0 -
So rather annoyingly I have just lost a big long post which I don't have time to rewrite  true to my word I am posting this so that I can say I've posted everyday this week but I will have to do a proper update tomorrow.
Today was an NSD though :jSPC9 #5070 -
Don't you just hate it when that happens!!
Hope you've had another NSD :0) x0 -
Good evening all
Well I'm afraid to say I have failed on two accounts this week. I only made it 2 out if 3 NSDs this week and completely forgot to log in yesterday. Oops must try harder next week
So I have had this diary for a week now and it has definitely already had its benefits. For example the credit cards are still out of the purse and I have no intentions of putting them back there and I am making more conscious decisions.
So my list for this week will be as follows
Money Saving
3 NSDs
Batch cook 2 more meals for the freezer
Keep shopping bill to below £40 for the week.
Log in and write a post each day
Simple Living
Read a book (not done this in years)
Plant some vegetable seeds so by the time the summer arrives I hope to be able to enjoy homegrown foods
Make sure I am sat down by 9pm each evening.
Let's see if I do any better this week.
Marylandcookie, do you have a diary?SPC9 #5070 -
What a lovely day it is today. I always feel so much happier when the sunshines

Today will be a spend day for me as I need to do my food shop. I really would like to keep it under £40 though so will have to write a really thorough list before I go. The trouble is I joined in with the OS Flyladies this week and have used all my cleaning products which I now need to replace  This could be costly and I wondered if any of you had made your own cleaning products before and how sucessful were they. If I could find some methods that work then this would be another step towards my simple living plan/ self sufficient living aswell. Might have a little internet search later on this topic.
Started reading a good book last night called Eat, Pray, Love. You might have read it or seen the film. Will definitely be reading some more later.
Enjoy your day

hello there
i dont post much, but re cleaning
the only thing you really need is a bottle of good old stardrops!
the bottle is a pound in home bargains and if you make up different strengths, using the empty bottles of stuff you have now after cleaning them out then fill with water and put some star drops in
i have a stronger one for bathrooms, put a more dilute one for bedrooms and non grease areas and i mid one for the kitchen.
not only is it cheap but it is kinder then most products to your stuff, so your stuff will last longer!
hope that helps, and if you dont like it, use it till your budget allows for your normal cleaning stuff : )14.05.2015 22106.60

Thank you so much Bridget81. I have heard people mention Stardrops before so I will have a look out for it when I next hit the shops.
Talking of which today has ended up being an NSD :T I persuaded the OH that we didn't need to do the usual Friday night food shop tonight as we've already got enough in and he agreed. Going to make the food we already have last as long as possible.
Spent some time out in the garden this evening and now in for a bath and more of my book.
Have a lovely Friday evening

I was up at the stupid time of 6am this morning as I couldn't sleep  So instead of wasting all my time on the internet I have spent my time wisely and come up with a meal plan for today. This will hopefully stop me going to the shops and make today another NSD :T. Let's hope the OH doesn't have other ideas. Breakfast will be porridge, crumpets for lunch and vegetable wraps with wedges for tea, yummy

Ive just realised that I have not signed into my online banking for days. Maybe there is enough for a little tidy up of the accounts and a small payment to the credit cards. Fingers crossed.
Plans for today include spending lots of time in the garden having a good sort out and getting some seeds planted.
First off time for :coffee:SPC9 #5070 -
Just went and checked the bank account and managed to make an extra credit card payment of £10 :j. That has just motivated me to be as frugal as possible this weekend and hopefully I can do the same early next week
