It's a good vibe,we keep each other awake and amused:)
Just wanted to thank you Essex Boy, you've done a great job of keeping everyone informed for a good while now, always nice to see a friendly "face" on the forums.
I still have the spreadsheet from a while ago and will try code cracking but don't know how to add the other combinations which the sun seem to be using now - is there an updated version?0 -
We have been to Butlins Skegness through the sun and that might be an option, we were very lucky and got fab weather but the indoor pool complex is great if you get bad weather. We've also been to Golden Sands at Mablethorpe twice, Mablethorpe is nice for young kids and has a lovely beach, the site is a it busy for us but we had a lovely caravan last time and that was through the sun without any upgrades. We've also went to Thorpe Park last year through the sun and were pleasantly surprised, its a very large site but the staff were lovely and caravans not too crowded together, the caravan we got was lovely without any upgrades and we really enjoyed the theme park which is practically next door.
Whereabouts are you travelling from? we are in Leeds and Thorpe park was a really short journey due to good roads, Skegness and mablethorpe are a bit more of a trek for us. We haven't been to any Yorkshire parks recently but blue dolphin and reighton sands are always popular with families booking through haven so should be a good deal through the sun.0 -
Thanks angbrads. Im just looking at some tripadvisor reviews for parks that aren't too far from me. Holiday are relaxing but booking is so stressfull..lol, especially for these bargain holidays.0

Couldn't book it last year because I couldn't get the date I wanted. Also, I'm flexible on locations apart from the few with dreadful reviews on trip advisor.
The system will always try to give you your first choice if there is availability for it, so put your preferred date as your first choice and any 3 other dates. Then if you don't get what you want, it's a case of keep goin back and changing your choice of parks until you find something.0 -

Many thanks Shrewdmum for your suggestions..We live in skipton and don't want to travel for longer than 4 hours as we have a newborn.I have got butlins skegness as my first choice so far. I was just looking at tripadvisor reviews for blue dolphin and there are a lot of good reviews. So tempted to put that as my next choice. I have got seven year old too, but he is not a big fan of theme parks, rides, etc. So thorpe park may not be ideal for us.Is thorpe park nice for a family stay without considering the theme park?
If you're in skipton its nearer for you for Blackpool if that's your cup of tea - we have been to Marton mere via the sun and that is a nice park with fab staff in a rural setting. Its just round the corner almost from blackpool zoo (which we liked and can be paid for with Tesco vouchers). I am not a fan of blackpool itself but we do love the pleasure beach which is no good for your 7 year old but loads of other things to do. The site is on the edge of blackpool but only a 15 min drive to the front and buses run too. I would definitely go again.
My eldest daughter was 7 when we went to marton mere and Thorpe park and she loved both. She likes going on rides but enjoyed everything else too.0 -
Thorpe park was only 1 hour 5 mins journey from leeds which was great and the park itself was better than a lot of other haven's, the pool was nice but smallish and no water slides etc. The seafront is traditional and basic but ok and fine for a short break though nothing to write home about. If you want to do traditional seaside stuff its fine.
