Best washing machine?

Are you really going to be doing 9kg loads? Unless you bung everything into mixed loads, its a lot of clothes to wash at once.
I personally feel this mad race to increase load capacity is a pretty pointless.
House of 2 adults and 2 kids under 3 (possible 3 child in the future), so the larger capacity would come handy.
Our 9Kg used to get packed full during its life...London, UK0 -
A similar thread was started no long ago. I recommended the LG direct drive, one of which we have had for over 10 years and still as good as new. The op decided to go for it, why not find the thread and ask her what her thoughts are of this machine.0

My current WM is an LG direct drive which was only 2 years old, so not really keen on LG's any more...London, UK0

John Lewis ones are just as likely to be Zanussi or Electrolux.
Nothing comes close to Miele on washing machine. Dont get taken in on capacity by itself. Look at the whole package. Miele often run promotions offering machines with 10 year warranties. Get one of those and you will be laughing.
Miele are solidly built and a 20 year life is normal.0 -

I'm not a happy bunny. I'm not paying any more, so have ordered a Samsung. Feel really let down by Miele, even the engineer said it's not one of the better models, not really what you expect to hear after paying all that money on a washing machine. Rant over!
you really won't regret buying a Samsung0 -
Surfbabe10, what model of Miele did you have, so I know which one to avoid?
Thank you.0 -
Hi Surfbabe10
It's a real shame you have had so much trouble with your Miele washing machine. unfortunately it's not impossible to have this kind of experience with a Miele washing machine but for sure these instances are the rarest with Miele.
Have Miele not offered you a replacement machine at a discounted price? I have to say this would be a far better option than changing brand to a Samsung.

You must be the first one I have heard of!0 -
The trouble is they don't make 'em like they used to. So, whilst my Siemens is still going strong after 19 years, I'm not convinced a machine bought today would last that long.Stompa0

Another vote for Miele. Our low-end (for Miele) W865 bought in 2001 broke down for the first time a couple of weeks ago, it has been well hammered for 14 years. Back on the road now, after a bit of DIY, though I suspect that had I called Miele service it might have cost a bit (it was fault on the PCB, which a very nice man on ebay repaired for about £30 when I posted it to him).
Had it not been repairable I would have gone for the WDA110 or WDA 210 at JLP. £575 for the 110, after cashback, with a 5 year warranty sounds like a bargain.
You can be unlucky (or lucky) with anything - all you can do is stack the odds.
Back in about 1997 I had access to the claim statistics for an all makes warranty scheme for white goods, and they suggested that one make was twice as reliable as the average. They were cheap too, so I bought one. As soon as it was out of the manufacturer one year warranty it broke down about once a year for three years before I threw in the towel.
It would be unfair to mention the make as you are unlikely to be buying a machine made 18 years ago!
My daughter's Neff integrated washer dryer also broke down last week. She got a "repair and protect" deal from Domestic & General who sent the Bosch/Siemens/Neff bloke to mend it. As soon as he opened it up he said "not one of ours - these are made by somebody else and badged for us". It had actually been quite reliable for a washer dryer - nearly 8 years."Things are never so bad they can't be made worse" - Humphrey Bogart0
