My idiot son is a bully! Allegedly

Look up scientific studies on it if you want. Many that prove it.
From the OP you can't determine that it has had a negative or positive effect on his education. He said hello to a guy. That's a polite thing to do when someone joins you in a game and is in no way confrontational, rude or anything bad.
The event after that were with some other person, not that lad, and should never have had any effect on the school situation.0 -
It all sounds very odd.
Why did the other child initiate contact.
What has what happens outside of school have to do with the school
How was he able to contact the other child by phone whilst in isolation ?
I'd definitely want a meeting with the school as soon as they are back.
Sounds like the other lad *might* be trying to stir-they can be devious little gits at that age.
I don't suppose either are angels but the isolation stuff makes no sense -so either it is completely ineffective or your son didn't do it ......or you aren't getting the whole story. Or a combination of all three.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Sounds like what we used to do when we were kids, only it involved face to face contact - before computers were invented.
Yeah, but you couldn't talk to people from anywhere in the world at any time from your own home and while having fun and learning lol.
You can talk face to face with people through computers.
Many games also have a multiplayer option so you can be with someone gaming. Or even with someone in the same room and communicate with others around the world at the same time lol.
Not saying we should all just communicate through computers all the time, but it does open up more options and can be a very good/useful thing.0 -
DS runs the after school computer club where they design games etc. he also teaches some of the other kids coding. He's just got in and says that he never called the lads sister a re***d and the witness who says he did was the other lads best mate.
It's all boiling down to he said/she said atm. They've scheduled a bts interview at 8.30 am on the Monday back, but unfortunately I've got to go to work & deal with my own students. Going to ring the head for a chat instead.Noli nothis permittere te terere

Oh for ###s sake! I told the school that I was grounding him from the Internet but they've set him homework on the VLE!
And apparently hes not allowed out of the house tomorrow. Well oh is back from India tonight and he's working from home tomorrow which means I have to take him out so oh can work in peace & quiet. Plus I have to take him out anyway as he has a doctors apt for a fist sized lump that's appeared on his spine. Aargh! Never rains etc etc.Noli nothis permittere te terere

Sounds like they're trying to cause trouble for your son. Is it possible that they're just jealous that your son is running the club?
Is there no other time you can arrange an interview in person? Might be better if you and your son can sit down and talk properly with the school.0 -

who says your son isn't allowed out of the house tomorrow?
You can log in with him so he can get his homework off t'internet.
I honestly think theres more to this than your son, and the school, has told you, and in your shoes I'd be trying to get a face-to-face meeting set up at the school as soon as I possibly could. In that meeting I'd be asking to see all the evidence they have about your son bullying the other boy by text/internet contact etc. If thats the reason your son has been excluded they should have that evidence already.0 -
The first thing I noticed was this is a new school. I'm guessing that it is a lot stricter than his previous one? My 2 are at a Secondary school that has strict punishments for things, eg forgetting pe kit or stationery items can be a detention. I know this isn't the case in many of the other schools in the town. Part of me thinks they can be OTT for some things and it doesn't really give them much else to hand out for bigger stuff, hence my eldest has also had isolation before (back-chatting a teacher last year was the last time).
Just clarify from the school exactly what has happened. I personally find it far easier if I stick to fact and keep my opinions and emotions out of it.0 -
Is it just me who finds it distasteful that a 14 year old boy, pretty easily identifiable by the detail of what is in the posts on here, is referred to as an idiot. There seems to be a lot of question about what has and hasn't gone on, and a need to get to the bottom of it all. I'd be establishing that and steering well clear of using derogatory terms that could potentially damage the relationship if seen. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

I didn't read it that way, I thought the OP was using that term in a jokey/affectionate way
Lots of people use the term idiot as in "oh you are such an idiot" they don't mean anything by it.0
