I do chuckle at the RFID wallet product. People who are afraid of the very small risk of temporarily being scammed out of maybe 30 quid by an RFID skimmer buy a wallet for about 30 quid to protect themselves from it.

I have a special pocket in mine for storing cards so that aliens can't read the chip (or my brain).

For god's sakes man, don't talk about this stuff on an open forum.

Aliens can read chips, forums and grumbler's inked-over CVV. They ain't stupid you know.

Apart from the ones that get all the way here from billions of miles away and are then careless enough to land in deserted New Mexico where they are easily captured and dissected.

Actually that Martin fellow has a bit of a preternatural look about him....

Before using any card in public I used to sand-down the 16 digits and account details on the front so they were no longer present, and colour in the signature strip (along with the CVV) using a black marker. Cards that I would be using more frequently in public I also removed or drilled the chip.

Even if you cover your face with a black marker pen and wear a tin foil hat and sunglasses ? I thought the foil stopped them doing that ?

The contactless features have posed new problems. On these new ones I also need to cut into each card, four cuts, one from each corner towards the middle, stopping approximately 1cm from the centre point. This ensures that the transmitter circuit has definitely been cut.

Definitely bonkers. You really should get out more.

I've been using debit and credit cards for donkeys years, as have millions of other people. Online, in ATM's and POS, i've had had fraud once. Fully refunded the same day.
