Removing CVV numbers from credit/debit cards?

Does anyone else remove or obliterate the CVV number on their credit or debit card?

This is a key part of CNP fraud and if it isnt there,it provides a good safeguard.

If you have removed/obliterated it, have you had any issues using your card(s)?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    No.

I just keep an eye on my accounts. I've experienced multiple types of card fraud and I've never had a problem getting the transactions reversed with a minimum of hassle.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

I could keep it in the place where my FlexAccount card sits in my wallet, the CVV has been worn away so much that it is really not readable now (I had to make a note of it elsewhere). I've never had an issue but I can't recall anyone else ever asking to look at it, although I tend to use one of my credit cards for purchases in the real world.

I used to paint them over with a permanent marker. Have never had any problems with this.

Does that work? Looking at my non-AmEx cards, excluding those where the signature strip has been destroyed through age, the CVV number is slightly raised and so would still be visible with a bright light and the right angle.

Predominately I use my AmEx and so the CVV is actually printed onto the card itself and under the front plastic film so not possible to remove them. You could paint over them but being the front of the card it'll arguably be more noticeable and could raise more questions as to why you have a defaced card.

Yes, that's the point. You still can see it if needed, but other people can't see unless they get hold of the card.
Of course, you can scratch/sand it away if you want and keep it separately.

    Indeed, arguably. Who cares?

When I used to hide the CVV, I also used to have the middle 8 digits of the card number covered by a piece of the electric insulation tape. Again, this has never caused me any problems.
My worry was that with modern mobiles it was easy to take a photo/video of my card with all the details without me noticing this.

Did you put your tin foil hat on before or after removing your wallet?

I keep using it and take off only when I take a bath.

What time? Do you mean taking the hat on and off?

It takes less time to paint the CVV over than you 'wasted' on your post.

I have a special pocket in mine for storing cards so that aliens can't read the chip (or my brain).
