TSB Credit Card

Options
Hi everyone :)

I have just joined this site after reading quite a few posts on here while searching the net for an answer. Please be nice to me :)

I have had my current account with TSB for for just over a year. I applied for a TSB Credit Card yesterday. I went thought the whole application and it shown the card they could offer me and on the right hand side in a box it shown the approved limit of £1300. I was quite happy about this as ive been trying to get a loan with them for a while and i had been declined, I was also declined for an overdraft. Anyway, it seemed to be approved but then i received an email saying "Thank you for applying for one of our Credit Cards. We just wanted to confirm that we'll now start processing your application and we'll contact you within 7 days with a decision". I was confussed with the contradiction so i call them and the lady said they are probably just reviewing the limit and the email is normally confiming that the card will be with you in 7 days and it should be fine. Later in the day i was still worrying so i called again. This lady said it definetly hadn't been declined and if it was going to be declined i would of recieved a message on screen when i applied saying that the application was unsucessful. She said to just hold tight.

I am just a little confussed, maybe because i am suprised they would offer me a Credit Card but not a Loan or an overdraft.
Sometimes im not convinced the customer service reps give you the correct answers.

Has anybody had this sort of thing happen with TSB before? Would it really normally decline online straight away if i was unsucessful?

Any help while i am waiting to hear from TSB would be awesome.

Thanks!:)

When you say approved limit, did you apply via an offer in your online banking for a guaranteed acceptance?

Or did you just apply directly on the TSB card website and got confused about the bit which usually says something along the lines of 'representative example based on borrowing of £1,200.....'?

If it was a straight decline yes it would probably have said so on screen. All you can do now is wait.

It could decline instantly. Or it could be referred, leading to a decision later on.

No it wasn't in 'My Offers'. I saw the bit that the representative borrowing etc and this was based around borrowing £1200. It was after this page. I filled in all my personal details etc and then when i clicked next it looked as though it was doing a search and then shown up a card i could choose (this was the one i had applied for) and once i had clicked on the card the next page shown a limit of £1300 on the Platinum Purchase Card. It then asked if i wanted to transfer a balance from another card and asked for the card number etc but i clicked no as i dont want to do a balance transfer. I then electronically signed the Direct Debit Guarantee and then clicked submit/finish. Then my phone pinged and i got the email which said 7 days etc.

Its all left me a little confused with being declined for loan etc with them. I guess its just a waiting game now.

I will let you all know what happens.

Some banks you might not meet their criteria for loans or overdraft, however they would be happy to give you a credit card. Go figure.

Good luck and keep us posted.

  • Also got a little confused as i signed the agreement and the direct debit guarantee online. Does this normally happen even if you are declined? I kind of assumed this would come up after you have been approved but i could be wrong. Sorry if i am being a pain! TSB just confuse me a lot!

If it's any consolation, I applied for a current account and got an almost identical email saying they were now processing, when the last screen on the application seemed to suggest I had already been accepted.

A few days later all the details, debit card and pin came through.

Hello same for me I got the email and within a couple of days a confirmation email and it then showed the card next to my current account on line with the limit. So as others have said relax let them check and I'm sure all will be fine. It wasn't a instant decline, which is very promising :)

I signed the agreement and Direct Debit guarantee etc electronically. Do you know if i would still of had to do this if it was going to be declined later on? The whole process seemed a little strange.

I am trying to keep positive!:rotfl:
