Visiting Ikea on Bank Holiday Monday - will it be a nightmare?

Can't comment other than to say I have taken advice and never visited IKEA.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

I wouldn't go on a BH unless paid, preferably a 7 figure sum! However, we're lucky enough to live within 1/2 hr of one, and OH work is nearer than that so he just goes in after work.0

If I need to go to Ikea (our nearest is around 60 miles away) then we go on an evening. Pick my husband up from work and go straight there - they are normally open late.
Now that's a good idea! Thank you!0 -
Well the consensus seems to be that it's not at all a good idea to go on a bank holiday! That's great information, thanks to all who responded - you have just saved me from what sounds like a nightmare visit!
All I want to do is to go and try one of their sofa ranges, as I am thinking of buying the 3-seater Ektorp sofa. We already have an Ektorp chaise longue bought for £22 from ebay and it is so comfortable - I love it! So I was thinking about getting the 3-seater sofa in the same range.... it looks exactly what we want, but it seems a very daft thing to do to buy it without ever having sat in one. Hence the trip to the store to try it out.
I am dreading trailing round an Ikea store to be honest, but I don't suppose there is anywhere else to try out their sofas!0 -
What you really want to do, so that you don't stand out from all the other warring couples who go around furniture shops on a bank holiday Monday, is take your bloke with you, and have a domestic about the colour/size/price of the sofa you're intending to buy
Better still, if you've got any kids, drag them around with you too, and shriek at them (when you're not shrieking at your husband) to behave and stop jumping on all the furniture.0 -

It's likely to be that good eh? I shall have to start practicing to fit in....

I might just stay at home and eat chocolate instead....0 -

We go all the time.
Go for opening. As stated it has a one way system as such to lead you round. I would prefer during week or evening but if push come to shove (literally ;-) ) I would go on a bank hol.
Food and drink is very cheap if you fancy a cuppa.
