    Thanks for the unhelpful advice

People are trying to help you here. None of it is unhelpful advice, you're just being told 'as it is', if that's not what you wanted to hear you shouldn't have asked.

This had me a little paranoid, we've just gotten two rabbits and the wind has been terrible the last few days but I just went to check the fences and they all seem fine apart from desperate need of paint :) have you tried talking to your neighbours?

What if the neighbours took down their fence today. It's theirs. It's not yours. Either get your own fence, or continue to patch theirs as you deem fit as it's to your benefit.

They have a fence, you can have your own fence, in your garden, on your side. It's not rocket science, you're just seeing it from the wrong angle.

As others have said, there is no obligation to have a fence or repair it. The fact you have dogs which may go on there land means you should have a fence.

They could remove the fence and replace it with wire and posts. It's still a fence and then it's left to you to keep your dogs in your own garden

In an ideal world , the neighbour would care what his fence looked like and have the cash to fix it , sadly , we dont live in an ideal world and we have to make the best of things , advice given is correct

Calling him a rotting neighbour probably won't help - not all of us can help how we smell :O)

Well of course they can. I don't mind the dogs going for a wander on someone else's yard if they don't want to protect their garden or their animals. I don't see why we should pay a full amount to erect a brand new fence on their property .. But yeah. Thanks for the unhelpful advice

I am very glad I am not your neighbour.

When i went out this morning i had a section of fence blown down near the gate. I noticed the post broken the other day, it looks as if someone has backed their car into it. So i can't fix the fence before i get a new post and don't even know where to begin. That's in a couple of foot of concrete, it will be a hell of a job to dig up, and those posts weigh a ton.
Still there's Easter gone. Something will have to be done.
