... or receive a call ........I think it was the case for giffgaff only - and isn't the case anymore.
I have a Three PAYG SIM - it has *never* had any credit on it, we just use it to receive calls.
We've had it for about 4 (?) years now ... it worked Ok earlier today.0 -
Well, my Tesco sim was never topped up and lasted for 2 years. This doesn't mean that they couldn't disconnect it a any time after 180 days and without any notice - what they have done eventually.
Three are pretty clear about this too:We may also suspend our Services or disconnect you if you have not activated a Pay As You Go Voucher on your account or undertaken any chargeable events or activities (for example, made telephone calls, sent text or photo messages, accessed content or the internet or any other Three Services for which a charge is made) using any credit on your account during the preceding 6 month period.0 -
What phone? If it's 3G capable then have a look at Three, there basic PAYG rates are 3p per minute, 2p per text and 1p per MB for data.
They also give a free allocation of data (150MB valid for 30 days) each time you top up.

Both disconnect you after 90/180 days, but, unlike other providers, reconnect on your request and without taking your credit within 180/90 days accordingly.
As people in general and the OP in particular don't want to get disconnected in the middle of nowhere, a chargeable event is actually required every 90/180 days.0 -
This disconnection is an Ofcom rather than the networks - it is so ensure subscriber figures remain accurate, so that only 'active' mobiles are counted.0
-
If it's Ofcom, why does it vary that much?
And why a mobile that answers incoming calls isn't 'active'?0 -
Three is the best payg network if you want the simplicity of just topping up and using your phone without having to faff about with bundles.0

Grandmother dies after her mobile phone is cut off. -Story
An Ofcom spokesman said: “We are very concerned to hear about this distressing case and have raised it with Vodafone.
“We are reviewing how mobile providers reuse numbers.”
