Thanks dunstonh. Excuse my ignorance here, but would that be bought from L&G directly? Presumably, outside the ISA wrapper..?
EDIT: Interestingly, the MI funds don't seem to be available through the L&G ISA...0 -

I will start with £50 a month, increase in time.
I am trying to see which platform is most suitable for me - obviously the cheapest one. On Monevator, it says HL would be ideal because I will use only one fund.
HL are expensive at 0.45%. Go with Cavendish Online or Charles Stanley Direct at 0.25% assuming you're investing in a S&S ISA. For SIPPs, then the platform choice might be different.
Take a look at http://www.comparefundplatforms.com/. Annoyingly it is currently failing for me at the final step. When working, you can put in a few inputs like the lump sum value, value of monthly payments, whether funds or shares, etc, and then will give you a list of providers ranked by cost. HL will not be at the top of that list
When looking at providers, check out the fees for leaving that provider too. Cavendish Online (who use FundsNetwork/Fidelity) have zero exit fees.0 -
Thanks arbster, interesting. So in that case with no platform charge and no initial charge, the L&G fund may work out cheaper that VLS through a platform.0

The L&G fund is available in or out of ISA directly.
Be aware that L&G had multiple distribution channels over the years. So, someone with an L&G ISA may not actually be able to utilise the MI funds on their ISA account but require a cash transfer.
Examples that come to mind would be the banks that sold L&G products.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Using http://www.comparefundplatforms.com/, iWeb comes out on top for me almost £40k ahead of Charles Stanley. I'm now a bit confused as http://monevator.com/compare-uk-cheapest-online-brokers/ states that with iWeb there is a £5 fee on dealing funds. Would that not apply to every monthly contribution I make?
Perhaps I've not entered the details correctly- 1 fund, initial 500, monthly 400, annual trades 12.
I'm assuming monthly drip feeding will class as 12 trades per year?
Thanks,

Correct - as I mentioned to you very recently.
I've entered your figures into compare fund platforms and Cavendish & Charles Stanley are joint best (in terms of cost)
Don't know if posting this link will maintain figures I've put in

Thanks badger09, sorry I do remember asking that before but not the response, apologies.
I think clicking the link just opened up my results with iWeb top. Can I ask what other values you put in? I'm not sure how my results are different :-/.
Wrapper: ISA
Funds: Total lump sum £500, total monthly savings £400, number of funds 1, number of trades per year 12
Shares: None
Number of years: 39
Annual return: 7%
Thanks,
