Try closing your eyes whenever you are in the car, then you won't see the dirt. Alternatively, trying turning the radio up.0

Either take a wheelbarrow full of money to the dealer for your car and purchase a set of tailored mats, or simply go to eBay, type the model of your car and "mats" and you can buy a set of "top quality" tailored mats that fit perfectly and look quite good for the 3 months they last for about £15.
EDIT: Rob has said the same above (apart from the 3 month life, I suppose they last longer if you keep your feet off them, my heel has tunnelled right through mine.)
Since I saw this comment I had a look at my one month old mats. The heel will probably go through them in 2 more, but they fit so nice!!0 -

I put mine in black bin bags and change the bags once a month.0 -
In fairness though I do have a set of rubber mats over the carpet mats in the front of both of our cars - mainly for winter for catching water, mud and slurry that seems to come with living in the uk.0

I once had a Volvo 360GLT (inherited, not my first choice of motor) and that had the most superb mats ever. Fully-fitted, heavy rubber, with a rim round all edges about 1" deep. I was told it was to hold the meltwater from the snow that came in on the driver's shoes. It certainly worked and kept the proper carpets immaculate.
How did you jeep the velour seats clean?0
