How to keep car mats clean?

I've had the same set that the dealer threw in over four years ago, either stamp your feet before getting in with dirty shoes. Or chuck a cheap set of rubber mats over the top, my Dad did this for years as he used to visit building sites.0

Put some mats on the mats to protect them.
Then you may want to protect them mats too, so put a set on top of the ones that are protecting the other mats.
then protect the mats that are protecting that mats that are protecting... etc.
If you want to buy a pet, you go to a pet shop.. If you want to buy a pet shop, do you go to a pet shop shop..?0 -

Hi folks
My car mats are getting dirtier and worn out day by day.
Can someone suggest what can I put over them in order to keep them clean?
Thanks
Isn't that the whole point of car mats? You put them on the floor of the car, so the car's carpets don't get dirty and worn.
If they get too tatty, chuck them out and buy a new set.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
I like my car to be clean inside and out.
Carpet mats are awful. I like using rubber car mats and when I wash my car every two weeks, I wash the mats with soapy water and hang them over my fence to dry.0 -

I once made the mistake of shelling out about £40 for some nice mats from Halfords. Admittedly they're still going strong, but have seen the same ones in both Asda and B&Q for about 8 quid. Best I ever got were some rubber ones in Wilco. About a fiver a pair, when they get grubby just scrub them with some Flash, chuck 'em on the line to dry for 10 minutes and Bob's your uncle. Great when you've got muddy kids and dogs to contend with ( and yes, the kids are way muddier than the dogs !! )0

Or, perhaps you could change into slippers when in the car?
Ridiculus ideas and taken to the extreme!
Just out your feet on the dash and use cruise control.0 -
quality over quantity is my choice.
