Speed camera ? M42/A42
Travelling Birmingham to M1 ,traveling at 85 mph, there are the gantrys that show info ( not lane with variable limits/ cameras )
On top of gantry white camera ? , as going toward / past it ,it flashed ? Only one to do so,
Any ideas ? Thought they where traffic monitor cameras?

Sit back and keep an eye on the post for a fortnight, I do believe there are cameras on some of the gantry and I have seen them flash in the opposite direction, around the toll road intersection.0

This was way further down, I noticed more of them on most of the gantrys, ( both sides) didn't notice any flashes on others( cars were going past me)
Oh, wait and see0 -
Don't drive at 85 then..0

if there are speed camera, you should see a speed camera sign. Also, there may be road marks on the ground.0

An indicated 85 mph could be around a true 76/78 ish, so you may be OK.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

These are (only recently!!) active even when no temp speed limit is showing - though not all gantries have cameras. They only flash when exceeding the limit.
So likely a ticket but you may get lucky!0 -

I agree with your theory about his speed. However if he has tripped a camera why would it be set below their prosecution threshold?
We could do with knowing what road he was on the M42 is a managed motorway and as far a I know the A42 has no fixed sites on that stretch.0 -
I know which one you're referring to, it's after where the M6 toll joins the M42; and I saw it flash last week when I was on the opposite carriageway heading north; no speed limit displayed.
Please let us know if you hear anything.
As far as I'm aware, NSL isn't enforced by the cameras in Birmingham's managed motorways; but I know that the ones on the M5 in Bristol do (found that out the hard way! No course offered, but thankfully 2mph below the summons threshold; although I'd have told them where to shove the course anyway).0 -
