Good Morning
Darkish out and looks gloomy hope its not getting ready to rain
ilovegreatdanes hope you are ok don't think I saw you post yesterday (((X)))
Daft question time for those with chucky egg layers.
How long does the freshness of the egg last once its been layed ? :think:
This reminds me of the eggs story OH posted about me last year. He likes to post on facebook about funny things I've said or done because there are a lot of themIt went like this:
Discussion with Evangeline about eggs. Evangeline asked if she should use the fresh eggs that a very kind lady at work brings in for me from time to time when her hens lay more than she needs or the eggs from Asda. I replied that I would use the fresh eggs as they will taste much nicer. Evangeline replied "The Asda eggs go out of date on the 25th" so I said why ask if you going to answer your own question, then came the classic comment......... this is is a good one........ "I thought the Asda eggs might last longer as they might have preservatives"
Later someone replied this:
Eggs are washed and irradiated, both of which help preserve the egg for longer. So not such an ignorant thought afterall..0 -
[QUOTE=Fairclaire
You can tell how fresh an egg is by putting it in a glass of water. If it floats it's fresh, if it sinks but sits upright it's not fresh but ok to use. If it sinks and lies horizontally on the bottom it's not fresh[/QUOTE]
Morning all. Hope everyone is well.
Pretty sure the egg test is the opposite to the above FC ( sorry )
Just fill a bowl with cold water and place your eggs in the bowl. If they sink to the bottom and lay flat on their sides, they're very fresh. If they're a few weeks old but still good to eat, they'll stand on one end at the bottom of the bowl. If they float to the surface, they're no longer fresh enough to eat.
The gasses make it float I think.
At least this is how we do it and no ones died yet xxCherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

Tesco orders trouts to 'thin up'
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3038100/Tesco-orders-staff-fit-shoppers-not-like-served-overweight-checkout-workers.html
My mum shops in Tesco so maybe they overheard her comments about overweight people. She has an intense dislike for overweight people and if she sees them often comments loud enough for others to hear and embarrassing her sister who shops with her0 -
