We run our own business, and have seen people trying to hide profits, unsuccessfully.
It is always best to declare a second income, after all if you are selling things you got for free then you are only losing a little of it.
Best to keep receipts, keep records of sales, when and how much, and simply to declare it. Not sure what should happen about the APGs though, whether they should be declared?
Yeah that's a good idea but I'm going to check with my local tax office0 -

Morning all
MG went to sort the chickens out this morning so I got a lie in :j
Re the car boot debate- if you blatantly have X number of any one item, it's obvious that you're not selling off "unwanted items". Twenty bottles of shampoo do not equate to unwanted items.
Someone mentioned not having to pay tax on secondhand goods, like those bought at asda- soz but that's nonsense. Just the same as having a receipt tp prove that you bought it- again- nonsense.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Very wise. Don't forget about registering for VAT as well if your turnover is high enough.
Morning all0 -
When you think about it, there is a lot of companies set up specifically to sell second-hand goods. They have to pay tax.
We have to declare all second hand goods bought and sold, they are liable for VAT too, they are resold therefore part of the business.
Not saying anyone on here could get close to the VAT threshold thoughWhat is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
